This is a 2-hour experience from Kyoto, built around Kaminarimon, Nakamise Shopping Street and Hōzōmon Gate. It is run by Sunrise Adventure, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.

My tour guide was super knowledgeable and easy to chat with. He knew about every story, corner and really made me feel like I was meeting a friend for an afternoon stroll (a very smart local friend). I can’t recommend this walking tour enough. Getting the history of the temples and shrines really make you feel more connected to the country.

Grant was the best guide ever! Not only is he a native English speaker, but he is a historian. He was so knowledgeable and engaging, we wish we could’ve travelled the whole country with him! Of course we learned about the famous Asakusa Temple, but also a lot about Buddhism and Shintoism. I highly recommend this tour and Grant! Thank you for the wonderful experience 😊

Our Asakusa Temple walking tour with Sunrise Adventure completely exceeded every expectation. Our guide, Grant, was remarkably knowledgeable about Japanese and Chinese history, culture and religion.
