Full description
This is a 3.5-hour experience from Kyoto, built around Gekkeikan Ōkura Sake Museum. It is run by TripGuru Japan, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of Inari, the deity of rice and business, and its thousand-plus vermilion torii gates, each donated by a company or family, run in tunnels up the 233-metre Mount Inari behind the main hall. The full loop to the summit is about four kilometres and two hours; most visitors turn back at the Yotsutsuji viewpoint halfway. It is open 24 hours and free, which makes it the one big Kyoto sight you can do at dawn or after dark, when the gates are empty and lit. By nine in the morning the lower tunnels are a slow queue. The fox statues carry keys to the rice granary in their mouths.
The price covers guide, Walking tour, Sake-tasting, Boat fee and Complimentary drink. It does not cover Hotel pickup and drop off and Personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Chushojima Station, Yoshijima Yagurachō, Fushimi Ward, Kyoto, 612-8224, Japan. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with TripGuru Japan before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
An excellent tour from Katz which was relaxed, informative and really interesting. A good introduction to the area and sale making, followed by a shrine and temple visit. This was followed by the Sake Museum which was excellent and included 3 tastings (and a trip to the shop of course) We then had the boat trip and again Katz gave great insights. There was a visit to the museum about the lock gates. Would highly recommend this tour
Today we had a wonderful experience in the sake district of Kyoto, including a beautiful boat ride. The best part of the trip was our tour guide, Claudia, who was not only very helpful and attentive, but also gave us great recommendations on what to do in the area and answered all of our questions. The best!
Claudia was amazing, I came from Mexico to do the tour and it was great.
Great tour with Katz! He taught us all about the Fushimi area & sake. He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor and gave us a great lunch recommendation. We loved trying all the sake and also the gorgeous canal boat tour.
Overall great experience. Claudia was a great guide, very informative and kind. Highly recommended for all
Very calm, peaceful, and relaxing tour away from the crowds. Great sake tasting and a beautiful boat ride. Would highly recommend!
Tour guide incredibly knowledgeable and really enjoyed my time exploring the town and learning the history. Highly recommend this tour!
Our tour guide Maxim was great! He was able to explain a lot to us and answer our questions.
Marcelo Moreno was our guide, very informative and passionate about Japan and the tour. Obliging of all our requests and worked at our pace. Best guide we had in Japan. Loved the tour as a whole.
Wow!! We had a wonderful time! Our tour leader, Marielle, was a warm, welcoming and brilliant guide. She is also a middle school teacher, so her ability to impart knowledge was first class. The meeting point was easy to find and after a short walk though the back streets we arrived at the Temple, then down to nearby boat wharf for picturesque cruise along the river to a historic loch gate where we got off the boat at a small museum about the engineering history of Kyoto’s waterways. After returning to the wharf it was on to the historic Sake distillery for an enjoyable tasting with 9 options t
Very good guide , who was very good at giving an overall history of Kyoto not just the sake industry.
A magical tour that gives an insight into traditional and modern sake making. We tasted several types of sake at the museum, housed in a historic building, and bought a bottle of the most delicious one to take home. After tasting, it was a delightful short boat ride from the nearby boat station. It was a wonderful way to start the day, inspiring you to explore Kyoto with renewed vigor! Highly recommended!
