This is a 1.5-hour experience from Kyoto, built around Gion, Yasaka Shrine and Sanneizaka (Sannenzaka). It is run by DeepExperience, Inc., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Gion is Kyoto's historic entertainment district, the streets of wooden machiya houses around Hanamikoji where the geiko and maiko of the Gion Kobu district still work. They are working professionals on their way to engagements, not performers for the street, and Kyoto has banned photography in the private lanes; an evening walk with a guide who explains the ochaya system is the respectful way to see it. Tea ceremony sessions in Gion teach the basic form of matcha preparation in an hour. El barrio de las geishas, aunque no vimos a ninguna, pero las calles son muy lindas. Carísimo el tour para lo que es, si te quedas alojado en Gion perfectamente puedes hacerlo solo y te saldría más barato y con una rica comida incluida. Sentí que boté mi dinero 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Going at night was the best idea - moody, atmospheric, no crowds to dodge and you actually get to see Geishas living their lives. Yurie (sorry for the wrong spelling) was a brilliant guide - so knowledgeable and especially patient and engaging with our tween and teen. Thank you!
