Full description
This is a 2-hour experience from Kyoto, built around Gion. It is run by Kiana’s Lens, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Gion is Kyoto's historic entertainment district, the streets of wooden machiya houses around Hanamikoji where the geiko and maiko of the Gion Kobu district still work. They are working professionals on their way to engagements, not performers for the street, and Kyoto has banned photography in the private lanes; an evening walk with a guide who explains the ochaya system is the respectful way to see it. Tea ceremony sessions in Gion teach the basic form of matcha preparation in an hour. Kimono rental for a day, with dressing and hair, is an established business around the district and is welcomed rather than resented.
The price covers Guided evening walking tour through Gion with a local guide, Visit to Hanamikoji Street & hidden lantern-lit alleys, Yasaka Shrine & Maruyama Park evening stroll, Ninenzaka & Sannenzaka cobblestone lanes with Yasaka Pagoda and Kiyomizudera visit after the daytime crowds disappear. It does not cover Personal expenses, Transportation, Hotel pickup and drop-off and Entry tickets & admission fees, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Shijo Keihan-mae, Nakanochō, Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, 605-0075, Japan. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Kiana’s Lens before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
I had an amazing experience on this tour, honestly one of the highlights of my time in Kyoto. Walking through Gion in the evening felt unreal. The streets were peaceful, quiet, and far less crowded than I expected. It truly felt like stepping into another world. Our guide, Kian, was fantastic. Beyond helping us take incredible photos, he also gave me great recommendations and tips for the rest of my time in Kyoto. It felt more like exploring the city with a local friend than being on a typical tour. Dinner at Stars’n Cacio was incredible as well. The omakase course was unforgettable, especiall
It was my first time in Japan, and this Kyoto tour was one of the best decisions I made. Dimuthu was a great guide; friendly, knowledgeable, and really passionate about Gion. The night walk felt special and memorable. It will be in my memory forever. Stars n Cacio was amazing. The omakase was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of great flavors. The service was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended 👍
