Full description
This is a 3.5-hour experience in Kyoto. It is run by Aska, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.
The price covers Electric bike rental and helmet, Tour guide, Entering ticket and Parking fees. It does not cover Water, Food, Hotel pickup and drop off and Tip, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Aska sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Aska before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Tai was an excellent guide - Knowledgeable about the sites we visited - the bikes were in great condition. It was tons of fun - great way to see the city.
We had a fantastic time and Tai was a great guide. Highly recommend the tour and will do it again next time we are here. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels
We had an absolutely unforgettable day exploring the area around Mount Fuji by trike, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Haggy. From the moment we met him, he was incredibly friendly, enthusiastic, and welcoming. He took the time to explain everything clearly, shared interesting facts about the area, and made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident before setting off. What really stood out was how many photos he took for us—literally hundreds! Thanks to Haggy, we have fantastic memories from every stop without ever having to worry about taking pictures ourselves. His passion
This is a great way to get see some shrines and temples in the north east of Kyoto, and just generally cover a fair chunk of the city. Our guide, Tai, was friendly and patient, and navigated is through various side roads, tree-lined bike paths etc. Highly recommended!
We had the pleasure of doing the 3 hour tour with Aska yesterday. She was warm, funny and very knowledgeable. The temples we visited were definitely not crowded and we were able yontwkenoir time and explore. The bikes were great, to the point where I am trying to find comparable ones (as we cannot get the panasonic ones where we live). I cannot stress how much my son and I enjoyed the tour and our tour guide Aska.
This was our first time on an ebike and Tai was patient and made sure the whole group was safe and doing alright every step of the way. He was very knowledgeable about the sights and shared a lot of local insights as well. It was the easiest 17km I've ever biked. The route included pathways, back alleys and main roads but it felt safe the whole way. To be honest it was the pedestrians that made me more nervous compared to the vehicles lol. Thanks to Tai and the team at Sunny Cycle for curating this amazing experience. 10/10 a definite must do activity in Kyoto
Great way to explore some cool areas in town. Our guide was great!
Ty was a fantastic tour guide. It was a full 3 hr tour of Kyoto- visiting a temple, a couple shrines & biking along the river
Our guide Tai was wonderful. The pace was good, he was knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. Great tour!
Learned so much and got to see places we wouldn’t have otherwise!
Our bike tour with Tai was a highlight of our trip and a great way to kick off our visit to Kyoto. He shared insight into culture, temples and traditions that we carried with us the rest of the trip. I highly recommend a bike tour early in your first visit to Kyoto.
Tai was great fun. Bikes were easy to use and we enjoyed the tour
