This is a 2.5-hour experience in Kyoto. It is run by Pinpoint Traveler, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.

This was an exceptional experience from start to finish. My instructor Tomoko was outstanding. Very clear and patient in guiding me through the activity, The pottery choices were lovely, supplies were ample and well organized and she led with humor and encouragement!! I highly recommend this class - the best time I have spent in Japan!! It was also so interesting to see her beautifully executed professional pieces on display. Refreshments were delicious as well. Thank you so much!

A wonderful and meaningful experience. I learned not only a traditional Japanese art, but also the philosophy behind it: embracing imperfections and turning them into something beautiful. The instructor was kind and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A special memory I will always cherish. Highly recommended! ✨

So enjoyable. Tomoko and Haru described and demonstrated the Kintsugi process making it easy to follow. The space was tucked away in a lovely quiet location, very peaceful. They provided delicious sweets and tea and everything required to learn the art of repair. I will not look at my broken plates in the same way again. Very special experience.

This as a very special experience. Tomoko and Hisa, my teacher and host, were lovely - so friendly and helpful. Tomaku showed me how to repair a bowl using kintsugi, stage by stage with great and guided me when I wasn't sure. I am so pleased with the end result. This was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Kyoto. Highly recommended!
