Full description
This is a 1.5-hour experience from Kyoto, built around Kiyomizu-dera. It is run by DeepExperience, Inc., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.
The price covers Expert English-speaking local guide, Admission to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Guided exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, Insights into temple history and Choice of early morning or afternoon departure. It does not cover Food and drinks and Transportation to the meeting point, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
DeepExperience, Inc. sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with DeepExperience, Inc. before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

We were lucky to get a private tour from our Guide Masa. Thanks to him, we got to experience the temple when it was still not crowded. Once again, thank you very mich! :-)
Satoshi was an absolutely fantastic guide! He took his time to explain everything in detail and was very patient with all our questions. He even helped us take some great photos throughout the tour. I learned so much about the area and the culture. I highly recommend booking a tour with him!
The tour was AMAZING. Teppei is an excellent guide; he shared very valuable information in a super friendly and smooth way. He is so kind; he took plenty of photos for us, offered a Naruto pen to my son, who was of course super happy. He made us love the temple and Kyoto!! We can’t recommend it enough. I have travelled to so many places, joined many tours, and no one ever came close to Teppei’s kindness and knowledge. Thank you ❤️ Christelle & Jp
Teppei was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, he was kind and did an awesome tour I would super recommend this tour!!!
We had such a wonderful experience with Teppei! From the very beginning, he was friendly, warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly engaging. He shared so many interesting stories and details about the temple and Japanese culture, making the whole visit truly fascinating. He was also extremely kind and helpful, taking lots of beautiful photos of us and making sure we could simply enjoy the experience. The tour actually lasted longer than expected, simply because the time flew by — Teppei was so engaging and passionate that we could have kept listening to him for hours! By the end of the visit, we di
We recently went on the Kiyomizu-dera temple tour , led by Hiro. From the start, Hiro was professional and organised. Hiro made the temple’s history and spiritual traditions engaging. We enjoyed learning about the Waterfall fountain and the meaning behind drinking from its different streams. Hiro also gave us a deeper understanding of Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy and compassion, and the important role she plays in the temple’s spiritual history. Hiro is highly recommended !
We enjoyed a wonderful tour with Teppei. He shared great knowledge and insights about the Japanese culture and the Kiyomizu-dera. He is very charming and friendly. We recommend a tour with Teppei to everyone! Amazing guy! ありがとう Teppei
