Kyoto Early Morning English Tour: Fushimi Inari and Gion by Local Operator

Ikki was awesome! Our tour, specifically, felt very private as it was just me and another couple. I was solo traveling in Kyoto and worried I wouldn’t get any “Instagram-worthy” photos, but Ikki over delivered. He took tons of pictures from different angles and even suggested poses! I left with photos that made my friends think I’d hired a personal photographer, while the couple got some adorably corny ones I’m sure their families will love. This was one of the highlights during our time in Kyoto! Ikki was an amazing tour guide and was so passionate about sharing the history and culture of the shrines and other historical landmarks. It was so nice that he taught us about how to properly pray at the Shinto shrines. He took the time to answer all our questions and point out the little details that we would not have noticed. Plus he was so kind to take lots of photos for us for our memories! It was a privilege to learn about Japanese culture from him and we really enjoyed spending our morning with him!

Un très bon accueil par notre super guide Ikki, une très bonne manière de visiter Kyoto un petit peu en dehors des sentiers battus, avec plein d’explications sur les temples, les différents usages, les dieux, et si on souhaite discuter avec lui, plein d’informations sur le Japon, ce qui n’est pas forcément simple d’obtenir sinon. Le fait de partir très tôt, le matin était un petit peu surprenant, mais le seul moyen de visiter les temples avec le moins de touristes possible : si si, c’est vraiment une réalité ! Je recommande sans hésiter !

I chose this for our first day in Kyoto, to get a sense of how to see the sites. Absolutely wonderful tour! Mariko was really knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had, as well as help navigate the shops and shrine offices. I very highly recommend this tour!

We absolutely loved the tour It was a truly memorable experience. Our guide was not only incredibly professional but also spoke perfect English with ease and charm. Always smiling, he shared fascinating insights and little-known facts that brought every place to life. He even gave us fantastic tips for the rest of our trip, making us feel like locals in no time. We had a fantastic time with Ikki, who explained us every detail about how to act in Japanese temples, different facts about history and traditions, it was super interesting ! We perceived Japan in totally different way after this tour, also he is very kind guide, totally recommend ! Thank you for picture as well, we will definitely cherish them ! :)

We absolutely loved our tour with Ikki-san! Definitely the highlight of our stay in Kyoto, and maybe even our entire trip. Ikki is so knowledgeable and did a wonderful job explaining all of the Shinto and Buddhist shrine and temple traditions. We loved getting to learn more about Japanese culture through a native’s perspective. I couldn’t recommend this tour more!
