Kyoto Night All-Inclusive Eats and Streets, Gion and Beyond by Local Operator
Full description
This is a 3-hour experience from Kyoto, built around Yasaka Shrine, Gion and Kamo River. It is run by Pinpoint Traveler, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Gion is Kyoto's historic entertainment district, the streets of wooden machiya houses around Hanamikoji where the geiko and maiko of the Gion Kobu district still work. They are working professionals on their way to engagements, not performers for the street, and Kyoto has banned photography in the private lanes; an evening walk with a guide who explains the ochaya system is the respectful way to see it. Tea ceremony sessions in Gion teach the basic form of matcha preparation in an hour. Kimono rental for a day, with dressing and hair, is an established business around the district and is welcomed rather than resented.
The price covers A full dinner across two restaurants, Two drinks and Gratuities. It does not cover Extra drinks, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Minamiza Theater. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Pinpoint Traveler before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
There were only 5 of us in the group so it was easy to all chat together. We got to see areas of Gion that we would not have found on ourselves. The two food stops were great and the food was excellent. Very much enjoyed it.
My son and I really enjoyed this tour thanks to our guide Linn. He was very informative while making the experience fun and memorable. I would recommend this tour.
Was a great tour. Brian was very knowledgeable, helpful and fun! Met some wonderful people. Highly recommended!
Lin was an excellent guide for the dinner tour. The two restaurants visited provided food that was great and plentiful. Lin’s knowledge of the Gion area and his anecdotal commentary only added to the enjoyment of the experience.
We enjoyed the walking tour guided by Terumi very much. She knows the hidden places and gave us much information about geishas and history. The places we stopped for food and drinks were excellent and unique! We highly recommend Terumi as well as this night walking tour. Thank you Terumi! Stefan from Switzerland
Bryan was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He chose excellent eating spots too.
We got to visit local places we never would have found or felt comfortable going to on our own. The food was delicious! I feel like it was more alcohol-focused though (we didn’t get great descriptions of the dishes) and as someone who doesn’t drink, the non-alcoholic options weren’t great.
We had such a fabulous tour with Bryan! He was very knowledgeable about the area and showed us some excellent food and beverage spots! Would definitely recommend :)
Excellent. Bryan is a wonderful host made us feel very welcome . He is passionate about Kyoto. He has a great sense of humor which made the evening memorable. The local food stops were delicious.
Hugo was very informative and did a great job with his tour thankyou
Our guide Ferdinand was amazing. He took us all through different parts of Gion that we would have never seen before wandering ourselves. his knowledge of the area allowed us to learn about the great history, the traditions of the area, and not written rules of the area. highly recommend doing this tour as we went into some.truly.local food places that we would have never done.
The tour was excellent. It was fun to walk through Gion and learn about the history of the district. Ferdinand was fun and engaging and the pace of the tour was great. We ate excellent food at two unique, genuinely Kyoto restaurants. What a fun evening. The only complaint was that there were customers smoking in the first restaurant.
