This is a 35-minute experience in Kyoto. It is run by Traveling Tokyo, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.

Mario was a wonderful host and guided us very well as we created two rings one for myself and one for our daughter. He was a great conversationalist and we really enjoyed learning more about Japan, culture, people and Mario himself. Thank you for some wonderful memories!

Definitely a must do in Kyoto! U can choose ur own coin and even get a vintage Japan one for a small but fair up price. It was fun to work on my own ring and I had help whenever needed. All guides speak good English and were friendly. Alexis was a good guide, thank u for the experience!

Ray was amazing! He made it very easy to understand what the steps were! He even noticed my husband’s ring cracked during the stretching portion and got him a new ring right away! 10/10 recommend doing this!

Majo was amazing and helped us make perfect rings. she made special effort for us to leave on time as we had other things booked for later in the day and couldn't stay long. you need about an hour to do this comfortably so plan accordingly!

I went with my partner and we were looked after by Angelia. She was INCREDIBLE. She walked us through the entire process and was incredibly nice and made the whole process so much fun. When my partners coincidentally broke it was no problem and Angelia was happy to help him make a new one. The rings themselves came out great, a perfect personalised gift and very affordable.
