This is a 2-hour experience from Kyoto, built around Shirakawa Canal, Tatsumi-jinja Shrine and Yasaka Shrine. It is run by Travel Japan Together, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Gion is Kyoto's historic entertainment district, the streets of wooden machiya houses around Hanamikoji where the geiko and maiko of the Gion Kobu district still work. They are working professionals on their way to engagements, not performers for the street, and Kyoto has banned photography in the private lanes; an evening walk with a guide who explains the ochaya system is the respectful way to see it. Tea ceremony sessions in Gion teach the basic form of matcha preparation in an hour. Kimono rental for a day, with dressing and hair, is an established business around the district and is welcomed rather than resented.

Really fun experience. Our tour guide Takuma was talking very passionately about the topics. The geishas performance and meet&greet was also a really good experience, because we could ask the geisha any question we wanted, Take photos with her and play a traditionak rhythm game. We recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in japanese culture.

Amazing! We learned so much and Taiga was so nice and informative! Meeting the Geiko was a wonderful experience asking her questions, watching her perform and playing a game with her. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend these two are. It was the only one I could find that was suitable for young children and it surpassed expectations. The tour guide was informative and spoke very good English.

外国人と一緒にツアーを楽しみたかったけれど、実際には我々2人だけでした。事前にそれを知らせて欲しかったです。 しかしガイドさんも丁寧に説明をしてくれ、芸妓さんとすぐ近くでゆっくりとお話が出来たし舞も素晴しくて感動しました。 良い体験が出来て最高でした😀
