This is a 45-minute experience in Kyoto. It is run by Kangetsu Kyoto, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Gion is Kyoto's historic entertainment district, the streets of wooden machiya houses around Hanamikoji where the geiko and maiko of the Gion Kobu district still work. They are working professionals on their way to engagements, not performers for the street, and Kyoto has banned photography in the private lanes; an evening walk with a guide who explains the ochaya system is the respectful way to see it. Tea ceremony sessions in Gion teach the basic form of matcha preparation in an hour. Kimono rental for a day, with dressing and hair, is an established business around the district and is welcomed rather than resented.

Wir hatten eine tolle Erfahrung und haben richtig viel gelernt von japanischer Teezeremonie (der Geschichte, der Entwicklung, den Regeln usw.). Unsere Gastgeber waren sehr nett. Sie haben uns viel gezeigt und geholfen bei der Teezeremonie. Auch alle unserer Fragen wurden detailiiert geantwortet. Für uns war es richtig schön, dass wir diese interessante Tradition erleben durften und dass man dadurch mehr vom Zen-Buddhismus und von sich selbst lernen kann.

Wir haben mit Aya von Sakura eine wunderschöne und achtsame Teezeremonie gehabt. Es war das erste Mal, dass wir eine solche Zeremonie mitgemacht haben und Aya hat uns sehr einfühlsam und umsichtig ein paar kulturelle Hintergründe an diesem besonderen Ort näher gebracht. Wir empfehlen die Zeremonie an alle weiter, die eine erste Idee von der japanischen Gesellschaft und Kultur bekommen möchten.
