Full description
This is a 1.5-hour experience in Kyoto. It is run by Friendship Adventures Co., ltd, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.
The price covers instructors, All cooking ingredients and equipment, The food you make, Recipes for ramen and gyoza and Free coffee and tea. Nion, Nori, and Hitomi were all amazing!!! They taught me well and were super polite. Their English was perfect as well so there was no awkwardness in communication. The food was incredible too. I would highly recommend this activity to absolutely everyone!!!
We absolutely loved our cooking class with Nori & team and it was a highlight of our Japan trip. The team are so welcoming and everything is very organised and easy to follow. I am a vegetarian and they made this so easy. I would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Kyoto. We are so excited to try the recipes at home! Thank you so much guys for this wonderful experience.
Fantastic class with knowledgeable and patient instructors. My son and I were the only students which was lovely and relaxed (there is space for larger groups too). We made simple ramen broths with accessible ingredients so we can make these at home. The gyozas were easy with some guidance and practice - as was the ongogiri. Well with the money.
We were lucky enough to get a private experience. Both instructors spoke amazing English, had a sense of humor and provided exceptional recipes and instructions. One of the funnest experiences in Kyoto!
Fun and interesting, fun experience to try, must to do in every country you visit :)
My husband, 21 year old son, and I all loved this cooking class. The instructors are so adorable and engaging - they taught us so much and made the entire experience so much fun. They are seriously such a treat to spend time with. Everything we made was VERY delicious and we really feel like we will be able to recreate these recipes at home. The space is so cute and the set up is so organized and amazing for each participant. This was the perfect way to spend a couple of hours in Kyoto - such a fun and interactive way to have an excellent and extremely memorable Japanese meal. Highly recommend
It was a great and awesome activity. The ramen was very testy. i recommend the experience.
Our experience was amazing. The food we made was delicious and our hosts were incredibly friendly and informative. We booked this experience as part of our honeymoon and we have not regretted it at all! Highly recommend. Daniel & Jessica July 2026
This is a wonderful experience! The team is so skilled and kind. They made us fell as if we were part of a family gathering cooking for fun and flavor. The food turned out delicious! Highly recommend this class to anyone that is looking for a true connection with the Japanese culture!
I was spoilt being the only person in the class. It was an excellent experience that I enjoyed very much! The chefs were knowledgeable, engaging and easy to understand. If you enjoying cooking and like to learn new things I would highly recommend this activity. I’m looking forward to making more Ramen when I arrive home
Hinomi and Nori were such fun chefs! We learned a lot and had a great time cooking with them.
I learn a lot during this cooking class. Everything came out so tasty. I’ll definitely be trying the recipes when I get home. I appreciate the instructors. Thank you!!
