Full description
This is a 1-hour experience in Kyoto. It is run by Ginbu Co., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.
The price covers Samurai Kenbu Theater entry fee, Kenbu show and Short sword lesson. It does not cover Hotel pickup and drop-off and Food and drinks, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

This was a really fun show! The dancers are extremely talented and friendly. The stories that they told through dance were brilliant. Getting to learn some moves afterwards with the swords was great fun! Would thoroughly recommend this show!
Matt and I (Christina), really enjoyed the tour! Niall was knowledgeable and very passionate on what he spoke about. Would recommend any day. Thank you!
Wasn't sure how much I would enjoy this but I ended up enjoying it thoroughly. Very informative and powerful performances.
Great Show! Nice actors! Could make pictures with samurais after the show!
It was an unforgettable very knowledgeable experience that me and my sister won’t forget. Wanted to take pics during but it’s not allowed however they do give u time for pictures after the show and even snap some for you 📸
It was a very professional presentation. We learned a lot and hope the tradition will be taught to future generations!
A great learning experience about Samurai and entertaining performance.
It was a very interesting traditional Japanese performance. The face-to-face interaction after the show added more fun and samurai sword experience, follow by great photos. Highly recommended.
The show was beautiful and graceful, it was great to learn more about samurai history and story telling through dance. The sword lesson at the end was good fun too.
it was very interesting hearing the samurai historie. it was a bit difficult to understand what was told, but the performance was incredible. It was fun that the man who was the one supposed to die was also adding some humor into the story it maid the final touch of the performance. It was a good experience to get teaching in holding a samurai sword and learn some og the movements and shouting the words. this was also done with some humor.
It was amazing. We got to discover Kenbu with different type of performances, and we also learn the basic stances and wielded the katana. It is very worth it and impressive. The price is good. The explanation were great. Well done !
