This is a 2-hour experience in Kyoto. It is run by Cultural Edu-tourism Council, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.

Loved it! The artisan has already created the designs and the gold is on the fabric. He hand mixes each color. It has a watercolor texture. You gently apply with a brush. It is wonderful.

Amazing 🙏 to come away with a bit of silk that I painted myself was extremely satisfying ❤️ The Sensei was an incredible world of knowledge and many years of experience. Definitely a must do if you love Japanese artwork as much as I do.

We had a wonderful time participating in this event! We were a little slow to finish and the sensei and our interpreter were very kind and patient with us. Along the way we had a lovely time getting to know them.

We really enjoyed the Yuzen dyeing experience in Kyoto. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing activity. The translator was extremely helpful and explained everything clearly, which made the experience even better. The master was great—very skilled, patient, and welcoming. My experience today was amazing. From the beautiful translator to the wonderful art Sensei, it was a very authentic and traditional experience. Held in a traditional Japanese home I am so grateful that I got to experience this and support a local artist as well. It was very calm and relaxing. I did not think about my problems once. It was very meditative. I had to keep my perfectionism in check and remember art is not 'perfect'. My heart is so full and I'm so happy I chose to do this.
