Full description
This is a 4-hour experience in Nara, built around Bus/coach, Kasuga-taisha and Tōdai-ji. It is run by H.I.S. Co Ltd(TIC), an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.
The price covers Air-conditioned bus, English guide, Entrance fee for Todaiji Temple, Entrance fee for the Golden Pavilion and Authentic tea ceremony experience. It does not cover Beverages, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Kyoto Station Hachijo Entrance Square Sunken Garden. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with H.I.S. Co Ltd(TIC) before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
It would be much easier if the tour was only by bus instead of having to hurry to catch the train and then take another bus. Also, I would prefer to feed the deer while walking around and visiting the temples, rather than going somewhere in a corner just to feed one of them with only 1–2 crackers.
We had a wonderful experience on this tour. Our guide Yuko was friendly and extremely knowledgeable and her English was wonderful. We have navigated Kyoto on our own for all other attractions but felt that having a tour to navigate travel to Nara was the best option - and we were right. Yuko not only got us there with ease but gave us all of the information we needed to successfully interact with the deer and have an overall positive experience. We loved her historical information and the little extra information she provided. Highly recommended!
Such an Amazing day - well worth doing for your trip to Japan !!!
Manna was a wonderful guide. He was kind and very knowledgeable. Nara is beautiful. We loved the shrine and the temple. The deer are gorgeous! Fabulous day!
Mimmy is the best guide! She is kind and knowledgeable. I learned much listening to her. She took the time to speak to each of us and learn what we were interested in. We had a wonderful day in Nara with the deer and the temples and shrines. Highly recommend.
We had an amazing time in Nara. Since we were a small group, the company fixed train tickets to Nara and then a taxi, instead of a having a private bus. This wasn’t a problem at all. The guide explained a lot of things about Japanese culture and the places we were visiting. We had a lunch break in a typical Japanese restaurant. We highly recommend this experience.
We had an excellent time in Nara with a very helpful and knowledgeable guide!
Aki was a wonderful tour guide who was very organized and knowledgeable. She made our day in Nara pleasant and enjoyable.
Yuko offers so much information. We thoroughly enjoyed the day.
very enjoyable day, very knowledgeable and entertaining guide Mana. small group was also very good 👍
We were very impressed with the peaceful beauty of Kasuga Taisha and Todai-ji Temple is a must see & breathtaking! Seeing all of the deer and interacting with them (maybe best not to feed them) was a bit crazy, but unforgettable. Our guide, Aki, took excellent care of us the entire day. Todai-ji Temple was very crowded, but Aki was very conscientious in making sure we understood the historical facts and general history of Nara. Wonderful tour with first rate transportation between Kyoto & Nara and a great guide!
Great tour for the price. Our guide Tamny was very helpful and nice.
