Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

Kieran was a fantastic food tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the area, great at navigating Dotonburi for us, and we enjoyed all of the local food spots he brought us to. We were able to try new things that we would have been too intimidated to get by ourselves. We’ll be recommending this tour to any friends or family traveling to Osaka!

Kieran is an awesome tour guide that took us through the streets of dotonbori, letting us indulge in local and traditional Japanese food. Kieran is very knowledgeable and friendly, answering all of our questions and very easy to talk to.
