Full description

This is a 4-hour experience in Osaka, built around Hokoku Shrine, Osaka Castle and Subway / metro. It is run by Cornwall Ltd, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

The price covers guide, Entrance ticket to Osaka Castle Main Tower and Photo assistance. It does not cover Transportation cost: ¥430 and JR Pass is not available as we will be using Osaka Metro, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

7-Eleven Osaka Tanimachi 3-chome. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Cornwall Ltd before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Thank you so much, Momo. I was lucky enough to be the only one in my tour, so chatting with her was really nice; she told me about the places we visited but also had time to talk about Japanese culture. She was really understanding and eager to share her knowledge. I highly recommend you this tour for your first time or moments in Osaka.

Keiko was an excellent tour guide - she recognized quickly that my husband’s walking level was behind the group and was able to get us to elevators when needed. She directed us to an excellent lunch choice after the tour in the very busy Dotonbori area - most appreciated. More walking than expected but we loved every moment.

Miki was an excellent guide. There were 5 of us on the tour so got individual attention at various times during the walk. Castle was excellent but would suggest not spending too much time enjoying the view as the exhibits on levels 4 and 3 are well worth seeing. We used the underground and Miki showed us how to get tickets standing us in good stead for the rest of our visit. Miki also wasapped us later with suggestions of places to visit on our future days. All in all an ecellent tour and great value for money.

Miki was amazing she was super insightful and pleasant to be with. More than a tour it felt as if your friend was walking you around the city and telling the story of the hot spots. Miki had great insights for city activities and food we had a marvelous day we will always remember. even with the heavy rain Miki and both Miumis made the day feel as nice as if the sun was shinning. After the tour Miki sent a bunch of links to activities and places. 100% recommend this tour.

The listing gives the distance and the terrain; most walking tours are flat and paced for average fitness, and cycling tours use river paths and back streets with e-bikes available on request. Summer in the cities is hot and humid from July to September, so early starts and water matter more than fitness.
