Full description

This is a 10-hour experience from Osaka, built around Himeji Castle, Koko-en and Karoyashiki-ato Park (Historic Site Park). It is run by VIP Japan Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

The day trips out of Osaka each have one reason. Himeji has Japan's finest surviving castle, the White Heron, an original of 1609 with six floors of wooden interior, its plaster re-whitened in a restoration completed in 2015; the climb to the top keep is steep and the queue at cherry-blossom time is long. Kobe has the beef, sold by grade at counters where you watch it cooked, and the harbour. Koyasan, two hours south, is the mountain monastery town founded by Kukai in 816, where 117 temples sit in a cedar forest and Okunoin cemetery is the largest in Japan; a night in a shukubo temple lodging with vegetarian shojin ryori is the reason to go.

The price covers Air-conditioned vehicle, English / Chinese-speaking guide and Lunch. It does not cover Entry to the hot springs and Entry fees for Himeji Castle & Koko-en not included, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

日本、〒556-0011 大阪府大阪市浪速区難波中1丁目2 いな音ビル. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with VIP Japan Tour before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

We recently joined a wonderful day tour to see Himeji Castle and really enjoyed the experience. Our guide, Garry, was outstanding—professional, incredibly knowledgeable about the history, geology, and cultural significance of the area, and genuinely enthusiastic throughout the day. He kept the group engaged with great stories and tips, made sure everyone had perfect photo opportunities (the views were stunning on a clear day!), and handled all the logistics smoothly.

The tour was great, and Himeji Castle is absolutely beautiful. Arima Onsen town was amazing too, and we enjoyed a wonderful onsen there. Our tour guide Nick was fun and had lots of stories to share about Osaka and the attractions we visited. He paid great attention to everyone on the bus. We traveled with a baby stroller for our son and our 10-year-old daughter, and thanks to Nick’s help and the bus driver’s help, everything went smoothly.

Gary is an incredible guide: he took care of us from the moment we met him until we stepped out of the bus - providing us with an amazing lunch and making sure every aspect of the tour was comfortable. The Himeji Castle is absolutely worth a visit in his own right, but Gary did a brilliant job and showcased a level of historical and artistic knowledge rare even among tour guides. The tour was amazing and enjoyable both for the beatiful sights and for Gary's great professionalism.

Our guide Veggie gave us lots of info about the history and culture of Japan, and the sites we visited. Himeji Castle is beautiful and it was nice to take a break in Anima. Thanks also for all the suggestions for busy/eating after the trip.

We really enjoyed this tour! 10,5 hours went by very fast! Our tour guide Nick was great! He was funny, had many stories about Japan, Osaka, places we visited. The whole bus was laughing at his jokes and comments. He paid attention to every customer, making sure everyone is happy and enjoying the tour. Himeji castle is so beautiful! This tour gives you enough time to enjoy the castle and gardens! Arima Onsen was very relaxing! Very cute old Japanese streets to shop, take pictures and eat if you don’t want onsen. And Mt. Rokko is breathtaking! You can see Kyoto and Kobe at the same time! So man

Very relaxing trip. I especially appreciate the guide Harry who gives us detailed information about the places we visited. He made the places come to life with his stories on the history. I value the guide very much. He was attentive to all guests. Of the 5 tours I took so far, Harry is the best guide. Clean bus, comfortable ride, great guide, this trip is a great value. Highly recommend!
