Full description

This is a 3-hour experience from Osaka, built around Tsutenkaku and Shinsekai. It is run by Hungry Osaka Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

The price covers Your experienced guide, Food at 1 izakaya, 1 stall, 1 standing bar and 3 drinks. It does not cover Any extra drinks other than the three drinks in the tour and Transportation to and from the tour, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Ebisucho Station, 5-chōme-5 Nipponbashi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka, 556-0005, Japan. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Hungry Osaka Tours before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

This tour was amazing! I can't stop praising Julie, our tour guide enough and have already mentioned her a few times to friends and family since our tour. The food was phenomenal. The locations welcoming and fun. And our group, including Julie, consisted of 10 people which was a nice size in my opinion. Good food with lovely company and a very delightful and knowageble guide, made this one of the best tours I've taken in a while! I HIGHLY recommend this tour to everyone who likes to try (new) food and drinks and take in a unique and lively scenery. If you're lucky and your group is a fun bunch

As we learn more about Japan, one highly valued cultural trait is to own your vocation to a masterful level. Davin as a tour guide does exactly that! His warmth, knowledge and genuine hospitality makes for a perfect mix whether it is a private tour or one you share with 8 strangers. Highly recommend, the food eaten on this tour is only second to the curated company!!!

Tour was a great welcome to Osaka and Japan, big shout out to Scott for leading the group and helping us form an unforgettable night. This was a great way to bar hop with a friendly group, even as a solo traveller. Skip lunch as there is lot of food!

This was a fantastic tour - great guide who was passionate about his job and the tour. He helped break the ice among the group and we quickly made friends and had a great time. The food was tasty and provided a great overview of local cuisine. This was also a great way to acclimate to the city.

Kenzo was an amazing and attentive guide with so much knowledge and pride for his city. We learnt so much about the history of Osaka and Japan through the thoughtfully curated tastings. He really brought Osaka alive for us in so many ways we could not have experienced alone without his insight. It could not recommend this experience more!

Yes — Nara is about 30-45 minutes by Kintetsu train for the deer park and Todai-ji, and Kyoto is roughly 29 minutes by JR Special Rapid. Both are easy half-day or full-day trips. See our Osaka to Nara guide and Osaka to Kyoto guide.
Takoyaki (octopus balls) and okonomiyaki (savory pancake) are Osaka's signature street foods, best sampled around Dotonbori and Kuromon Market. See our Osaka food guide.
