Full description
This is a 95-minute experience in Osaka. It is run by B.B.Advisors Inc. AN OSAKA, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Gion is Kyoto's historic entertainment district, the streets of wooden machiya houses around Hanamikoji where the geiko and maiko of the Gion Kobu district still work. They are working professionals on their way to engagements, not performers for the street, and Kyoto has banned photography in the private lanes; an evening walk with a guide who explains the ochaya system is the respectful way to see it. Tea ceremony sessions in Gion teach the basic form of matcha preparation in an hour. Kimono rental for a day, with dressing and hair, is an established business around the district and is welcomed rather than resented.
The price covers Experience and Use of required tools. It does not cover Sweets take-out box: 100 JPY and Experience completion certificate: 300 JPY, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
B.B.Advisors Inc. AN OSAKA sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with B.B.Advisors Inc. AN OSAKA before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

A delightful class run by a fun and informative gentleman. We were running late but he still allowed us to make our treats and his lesson in Matcha making and drinking was delightfully playful. Absolutely worth your time and money.
It was fantastic! Nakarta was so friendly and welcoming, he explained everything clearly and showed us what to do step by step. He was brilliant at catering for everyone in the group and we had so much fun.
Very organized location once you get to the third floor, great host who is funny, smart and great in English despite being concerned about our all-English class.
What a brilliant experience! Masa was a fantastic guide, walking us through every step of the sweet making and matcha ceremony. I was so pleased with my final creations, and value for money is excellent. I would recommend this experience. Thank you Masa!
The instructor was very good. He went step by step to guide us in the sweet making and tea ceremony. The sweets were good and it was a great experience.
the sweets making was a lot of fun! our instructor did a great job walking us through it while handling both Japanese and English translation simultaneously - it was a great way to learn a bit more about the culture of japan in an immersive way. I do think I would enjoyed having a longer tea ceremony - but enjoyed making matcha either way. Definitely come check it out and if your looking for a traditional tea ceremony find another one on top of this :)
We had a great time! It was informative and a creative experience! Our host was lovely
It was fun and educating, the lady who did the workshop (sorry, I don´t remember her name) was handling very well 30+ people, speaking in Japanese and English. We had the best seats so we did not miss a thing.
the host was funny and informative, despite language barriers. The entire experience was fun and engaging. would do it again.
It was a very nice activity to do in Osaka! The workshop was mostly in Japanese but the chef did also give some English instructions. The tea ceremony was quite short but I really liked learning how to make 2 desserts. I would definitely recommend this to others!
Really enjoyed the sweet making and Tea ceremony. Our host Mika really took the time to explain the history and the was very patient with the process. The tea ceremony was our first, but it was very casual. Would definitely recommend it for a unique experience!
It was such a cool experience, excellent guide and good English. And I don’t like matcha 😁
