Full description

This is a 10-hour experience from Osaka, built around Bus/coach, Shirahige Shrine and Lake Biwa. It is run by Tour Easy, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

The price covers Multilingual guide service, professional driver, Pick-up and drop-off at designated meeting point, Comfortable and All parking and toll fees. It does not cover Meals and beverages, Personal expenses and Cable car ticket to Biwako Terrace, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Kyoto Sta.-Hachijoguchi. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Tour Easy before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Very enjoyable day. Early start meeting at Train station in Osaka, which then headed for pickups in Kyoto before heading off. Booked this for a day off from walking and still did 14k steps. :) Didn’t value the cake stop… wires crossed. Annoyingly many people constantly late for being back to the coach. This may have lead to our late arrival back to Osaka at 7pm.

Great trip to go off the beaten path in Osaka/Kyoto. Our guide, Casper was super organized, making sure to give clear and easy instructions to reach the meeting point, and super knowledgeable about the history and importance of the sights we saw! The shrines and temples were definitely a highlight! Unfortunately it was a cloudy day, so we didn’t get to see the views, but it was still a cool experience being in the clouds and worth doing!

Overall, the tour was good. It's mainly on a bus and, travelling from Osaka, there was a pickup and drop off in Kyoto that added to the length of the day. While there was time to stop for lunch, there's no guarantee that the cafes and restaurants will be open so it's worthwhile taking a packed lunch with you.

This was one of the worst guided day trips I have ever taken. Don’t do it. All you’re paying for is an expensive bus ride. The first stop was the shrine. Looked nothing like the picture from the advertisement. People crammed onto an elevated platform trying to take a picture of the torii out in the water. But what they don’t tell you is there is a highway that ruins the view. And the tour guide provided no information about this stop. The second stop was the optional lift up to the observation deck. The description said the cost was 4,000 yen but it was actually 5,000 yen. And if you decide no

Shoes off at every hall, quiet voices, and no photographs inside the halls unless a sign allows it. At a shrine, rinse hands and mouth at the basin, then bow twice, clap twice and bow once; at a temple, hands together without clapping.
