Full description

This is a 1-hour experience from Osaka, built around View point, Hokoku Shrine and Sakuramon Gate. It is run by Japan Guide Stars, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

The price covers Guided tour of Osaka Castle exterior. It does not cover Entry to the Main Tower, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

3-21 Ōsakajō, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 540-0002, Japan. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Japan Guide Stars before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Wonderful and informative tour with Kaz. Who filled me in on the history and significance of the castle as well as helping me understand more about the Shinto philosophy. A wonderful experience I would recommend to anyone visiting Osaka.

This tour was absolutely amazing! It was my first time visiting a Japanese castle, and thanks to this tour, I learned so much about Japanese history and Osaka Castle. The tour was the perfect length, making it easy and enjoyable without feeling rushed. The guide explained everything clearly and in a very engaging way, so it was easy to understand even if you don’t know much about Japanese history. If you’re visiting Osaka, I highly recommend joining this tour. It’s a fantastic way to experience the city’s history and culture!

We have not much time in Osaka so, it was great amount of time of the tour we took. We learnt a lot of things about castle. We had able to take good photos and the guide showed us right place to take a good photos :) I will rewatch Shogun episode. Monkey shogun (Toyotomi) is brilliant and also, today’s castle who built by Tiger Shogun(Tokugawa) is insane as well

The price does not cover entry to the main tower. Everything it does cover is listed in full on this page, so if something is not on that list, budget for it separately.
The listing gives the distance and the terrain; most walking tours are flat and paced for average fitness, and cycling tours use river paths and back streets with e-bikes available on request. Summer in the cities is hot and humid from July to September, so early starts and water matter more than fitness.
We confirm your booking with the operator before we treat it as final, and we need at least one day's notice. Once it is confirmed you get the meeting point, the time and a contact number for the day. If the operator cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.
