Full description
This is a 1-hour experience in Osaka. It is run by Japan Guide Stars, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

What a wonderful experience to discover in the middle of busy Osaka! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and I had such a great time making my own beautiful pair of chopsticks. There were so many different types of wood to choose from, from beautiful Japanese woods with their natural, understated charm to some of the rarest woods from around the world. Choosing the wood itself was part of the fun! Such a unique and memorable experience in Osaka. Highly recommended!
