Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

It was such a wonderful and memorable experience! Making my own chopsticks was so much fun, and it felt very special to create something with my own hands. There were many beautiful, premium Japanese woods to choose from, and I chose Purpleheart, while my 6-year-old son chose Yakusugi, one of the most premium and limited types of Japanese wood. My son absolutely loved the experience as well. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful. They introduced themselves as “Sensei,” which means “teacher” in Japanese, and every Sensei was so welcoming, fun, and supportive throughout the exper

What a wonderful experience to discover in the middle of busy Osaka! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and I had such a great time making my own beautiful pair of chopsticks. There were so many different types of wood to choose from, from beautiful Japanese woods with their natural, understated charm to some of the rarest woods from around the world. Choosing the wood itself was part of the fun! Such a unique and memorable experience in Osaka. Highly recommended!
