Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

This felt a bit like a tourist trap. We wanted to actually learn to make nigiri and maki. We arrived and the fishes were already cut in nigiri fillets (so we didn’t have the chance to learn how to cut it, nor any tips/technique needed), the rice was in a bowl ready for use (so we didn’t learn how to cook/season it). There was nothing done for maki sushi, when I asked about it they didn’t know what I was talking about - yet in the title of the offer here, it precisely says nigiri & maki workshop. We had ~12min lesson how to roll the rice and shape the nigiri and the chef left us to keep doing i
