Full description
Osaka is really two cities: the postcard version around the castle and Dotonbori, and the everyday city of market arcades and neighborhood backstreets where locals actually eat and shop. This four-hour guided walk is built to show you both in a single loop. You start at Osaka Castle, where your guide walks you through the park and fortifications and explains how Hideyoshi's stronghold shaped the merchant city that grew around it. From there the route shifts gears into Tsuruhashi, home to one of Japan's most vibrant Koreatown market districts, a maze of narrow lanes most visitors never find on their own. You then swing past Abeno Harukas, Japan's famous skyscraper on the south side, before diving into Shinsekai, the gloriously retro entertainment quarter built in the early 1900s, its streets still crowded with kushikatsu shops and glowing signage under Tsutenkaku Tower. The walk finishes where Osaka is at its loudest: Namba and Dotonbori, with the Glico Man sign, the canal-side neon, and the food stalls that gave the city its 'kuidaore' (eat until you drop) reputation. Along the way the guide fills the gaps between sights with the stories, etiquette tips, and food recommendations that turn a checklist into an actual understanding of the city. A private option lets you customize the route if there is a neighborhood you particularly want to linger in. Wear comfortable shoes - this is a proper walking tour, and the reward is seeing how Osaka's famous sights and its hidden corners connect on foot.

Our tour of Osaka was simply outstanding and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Japan! Our guide introduced us to the city with a lot of passion, humor, and impressive knowledge. We not only saw the well-known landmarks, but also discovered hidden corners that we would never have found on our own. He told exciting stories about the culture, history and everyday life in Japan.

A very nice and fairly comprehensive tour. The guide took the time to explain things well, and it was very interesting.
Kevin was great fun and very knowledgeable. Felt like I was spending the day with a local friend instead of a guide. Would not have seen a tenth of Osaka without him
