Full description

This is a 3-hour experience from Osaka, built around Namba, Hozenji Yokocho and Mitsu Park (Sankaku Triangle Park). It is run by Osaka Food Tours, Inc., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

The price covers Walking tour, guide, Note: Visit Osaka Tour, Insider recommendations on local restaurants after the and Snack. It does not cover Lunch or restaurant drinks , so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

2-chōme-2-8 Namba, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 542-0076, Japan. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Osaka Food Tours, Inc. before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Not only was Paul entertaining and knowledgeable, it was pleasure to have had him as our personal tour guide. I can’t say enough about how much fun we had with Paul. We both highly recommend him! Five stars plus.

Tour was a fantastic private exploration through Osaka with a well versed, polite and friendly guide. James was approachable, knowledgeable and and incredible first impression of the city. Strongly recommend a private tour for a more intimate experience, with more time for your personal interests!! 10/10

Paul was a very engaging and excellent guide, gently walking us through the different areas of the Dotonbori over the course of 3 hours with 2 brief stops for an octopus snack and drink. Interesting to see the range of activities and shops/restaurants available in the area and some quirky surprises, with specific foodie recommendations for return visits. Highly recommended for those new to Osaka.

Kai was a great tour guide! He knew the city very well and took us to different locations we probably wouldn’t have gone by ourselves. He was also flexible with the food tasting as all of us had already tried takoyaki so we had Pablo tarts instead.

Rahat was exceptional. Tour was fun, informative, and included a little bit of everything. Even advice for the next few days. We did it on our first day in Osaka to get a glimpse on what to do and visit the next few days. I absolutely recommend it!!

Excellent trip, which gave many insights into the history and contemporary life of Osaka. Josh has great knowledge and is able to transfer it in a very digestible format, with many anecdotes and fun facts. A really engaging trip that gives you the kind of immersion that you expect when travelling this far. An absolute must do! By the way, Osaka is probably the best spot on our 2,5-week Japan trip.
