Full description

This is a 2-hour experience in Osaka. It is run by Vicky Co., Ltd., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Osaka is Japan's kitchen: the city that invented takoyaki, okonomiyaki and kushikatsu, and Dotonbori's canal of neon signs is where it eats them. Osaka Castle is a 1931 concrete reconstruction of Hideyoshi's fortress with a museum inside and a moat and park worth an hour; Kuromon market is the food market; Shinsekai is the retro district under Tsutenkaku tower; Umeda Sky Building has the open-air observatory. Osaka is the base for day trips to Nara, Kobe, Himeji and Koyasan, all under an hour and a half. The city is louder and cheaper than Kyoto and its people are known for it.

The price covers Lecture about Kendo, Wearing Kendo uniforms and protective armour, Learn from an experienced and Samurai photos. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

We had an amazing time doing this Samurai experience in Osaka! It was just me and my son, and it ended up being one of our favorite experiences in Japan. The couple who taught the class were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and welcoming. They made us feel comfortable right away and did a great job explaining everything. We got to put on traditional Kendo gear, learn some basic Kendo techniques, and even pose with swords for photos. It was physical to your own comfort level and so much fun! The photos/videos were an especially wonderful part of the experience. They took so many great pictures o

We were looking for a martial arts experience to do with our two sons during our trip to Japan, and this was one of the highlights of our stay in Osaka. Toshi was an excellent instructor, and together with his wife they made us feel very welcome. Both speak great English, making everything easy to understand. We learned the basics of kendo, wore authentic samurai armor, and even had exciting sparring sessions. The photo session by Toshi’s wife was outstanding, and there was plenty of time to take videos and create unforgettable memories. We were three participants, including our youngest son w

We had an amazing experience doing Kendo in Osaka! The two instructors were fantastic from start to finish. The two-hour session was intense, engaging and incredibly well organized. We started with an introduction to the history of the Samurai and the origins of Kendo, followed by clear explanations, practical exercises and training. We also had the chance to wear the traditional Kendo equipment and, of course, experience an actual fight! Everything was perfectly done: the explanations, the demonstrations, the training, the equipment and the final combat. It was not only a great physical exper

I just finished a kendo martial arts class, was supposed to be a group of six or eight people but I got super lucky and I was the only one that booked the time apparently. I’m absolutely exhausted, but it was a lot of fun. Got a chance to spar with the teacher for about 15 minutes, just pouring sweat. An amazing and unique experience, absolutely a highlight of the trip!

This was the first activity that we booked once we knew we were going to Japan, and oh boy, what a great time we had! Toshi's professionalism and humor, combined with Fumiko's organizational talent made this experience one of the best we had in Japan. It was great to learn new facts on how Kendo came to be and at the same time experience doing it hands on. This is a fun / learn activity for everyone who is interested in Japanese culture, and in my opinion one that should not be missed. Thank you Toshi, Fumiko and grandma
