Full description

This is a 1.5-hour experience in Osaka. It is run by WILL Co.,Ltd., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Tokyo's wholesale fish market moved from Tsukiji to Toyosu in 2018, but the Tsukiji Outer Market, the lanes of shops and stalls around the old site, stayed and is where the food walks go: tamagoyaki on a stick, tuna cuts, uni, grilled scallops and knife shops, busiest from about 8:00 to 11:00 and closed on Sundays and some Wednesdays. The tuna auction itself is at Toyosu, watched from a viewing deck before 6:30 with an advance lottery. Sushi classes teach shari, the vinegared rice, and the hand pressure of nigiri; most run two to three hours and you eat what you make.

The price covers Sushi ingredients in the experience, Sushi meals!, Certificate of Sushi Master and Cute Japanese souvenir. It does not cover Drinks and Hotel pick up & drop off service, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

WILL Co.,Ltd. sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with WILL Co.,Ltd. before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

We loved everything from start to end. The venue was easy to find, the hosts Daniel and Arisa so friendly and enthusiastic, the ingredients super fresh...the session itself was really cool and we had a video that helped us appreciate where sushi came from which made it even more special. They even gave us gifts at the end which was the cherry on top! Now I've got a small mat and a spoon to separate the rice. If you're looking for a sushi making class THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT!!!!!

We really enjoyed his activity. Instructions were clear. The place was clean. Everything was very well structured. The place was in a very interesting district also (you can walk around and visit after). A small warning to some future customers : The course was given by a pair of young men (summer students). Do not expect a sushi master as your instructor. This affected our activity in no way (they were great) but I was surprised. Some may be disappointed so I wanted to add it to the review.

It was a really nice class! Arisa and Seina were super fun, patient and explained each step to us meticulously. We made 3 types of sushi and honestly a lot of food as well. The ambience of the studio was very cozy. They spoke perfect English too. Highly recommended!

Yes, if you tell us when you book rather than on the day. Dashi, the fish stock, is in almost everything, so vegetarian and vegan need to be named specifically and the host will plan a kombu-based version. Halal-certified restaurants exist in the big cities but are fewer, so say so early.
We confirm your booking with the operator before we treat it as final, and we need at least one day's notice. Once it is confirmed you get the meeting point, the time and a contact number for the day. If the operator cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Yes — Nara is about 30-45 minutes by Kintetsu train for the deer park and Todai-ji, and Kyoto is roughly 29 minutes by JR Special Rapid. Both are easy half-day or full-day trips. See our Osaka to Nara guide and Osaka to Kyoto guide.
Takoyaki (octopus balls) and okonomiyaki (savory pancake) are Osaka's signature street foods, best sampled around Dotonbori and Kuromon Market. See our Osaka food guide.
Yes — it's the city's neon-lit entertainment and food district, and while it's undeniably touristy, the energy, canal-side glow, and street food density make it genuinely worth an evening. See the Dotonbori guide.
Shinsekai is Osaka's retro, slightly gritty downtown district built around the Tsutenkaku Tower, known for kushikatsu (fried skewers). It's generally safe for tourists, especially in the daytime and early evening. See the Shinsekai guide.
