Traveler Reviews
Doing all four sites in one day sounded rushed on paper but it flowed beautifully. Our guide clearly knew every temple inside out and paced it so we never felt hurried. Boudhanath at the end, walking the stupa with the prayer flags overhead, was the highlight for me. The private car with air-con was a blessing between stops.
Booked the all-inclusive option and it was worth every dollar. Having the entrance fees sorted and a proper hot lunch with a Khana set meant zero stress and no queuing at ticket booths. Pashupatinath was intense and moving, and our guide explained the cremation rituals with such respect. Pickup from our Thamel hotel was right on time.
A really good overview of Kathmandu's heritage and our guide was excellent. My only honest note is the climb up to Swayambhunath, those 365 steps in the midday heat had us puffing, so start earlier if you can. The monkeys at the top were entertaining though, and the city views made the effort worthwhile. Lunch box was fine, nothing fancy.
Fantastic private day out for the three of us. What I appreciated most was the flexibility, we asked to spend longer at Patan Durbar Square photographing the carvings and the guide happily adjusted. The Newar architecture there blew me away. Great value for a private guide and vehicle at eighty dollars. Would recommend to anyone with limited days in the city.
As a solo traveler the group join tour at forty dollars was perfect, sociable and affordable. Met a lovely couple from Germany in the van. Our guide was patient answering endless questions and helped everyone buy tickets at each gate. Boudhanath and Swayambhunath were the standouts. Just remember the entry fees aren't included on this option, so bring rupees.
Brilliantly organised from the hotel pickup onwards. Four World Heritage Sites in about six hours, and each one felt distinct rather than a blur. The guide's stories about the Buddha eyes on the stupa and the significance of the Bagmati River stayed with me. Comfortable vehicle, punctual, knowledgeable. Exactly the introduction to Kathmandu I was hoping for.
Overall a wonderful and informative day. The four sites are genuinely special and our guide was warm and well-informed. My small gripe is that Pashupatinath felt a touch rushed compared to the others, and there were a few persistent vendors near the gates. Still, the private car and the ease of hotel drop-off made it a relaxed experience. Wear comfortable shoes.
We took the all-inclusive tour with our two teenagers and it kept everyone engaged. The kids loved the monkeys at Swayambhunath and the huge stupa at Boudhanath, while the restaurant lunch gave us a proper break in the middle. Having tickets and food all covered made travelling as a family effortless. Our guide tailored the history to keep the teens interested.
