Nous commençons par le fort de Jaisalmer, au centre de la ville. Ce fort doré de 870 ans est un fort habité, où vivent encore 5 000 personnes. Nous découvrons le palais du roi et de la reine, ou les magnifiques sept temples jaïns vieux de 700 ans, et les belles ruelles intérieures.
Après le fort, direction la Nathmal Haveli, une demeure aux allures d'énigme. Puis la Patwon ki Haveli, la plus belle haveli de Jaisalmer, fondée par un riche marchand jaïn.
Notre dernière étape est le superbe lac Gadisar, longtemps l'unique source d'eau de la ville. Sa belle architecture a servi de décor à de nombreux tournages. Après le lac, nous visitons la Salim Singh Haveli, puis la balade se termine.
Au fil du parcours, nous comprenons comment les habitants vivaient autrefois dans des conditions difficiles et comment l'architecture de leurs maisons leur permettait de supporter la chaleur de Jaisalmer.

Our guide made the Golden Fort come alive. Learning that 5,000 people still live inside completely changed how I saw the place, and he took us through little lanes we'd never have found alone. Nathmal Ki Haveli and the puzzle of the two brothers carving it was my favourite moment. Ending at Gadisar Lake in the afternoon was so peaceful. Genuinely one of the best guided days of our trip.
Booked the full eight-hour option and it was worth every rupee. The pace was relaxed, never rushed, and the hotel pickup meant we didn't have to worry about a thing. Patwon Ki Haveli blew me away, the guide explained the whole story of the Jain merchant family and pointed out carvings I'd have walked straight past. Bring good shoes though, those fort cobbles are no joke.
Sehr gut organised from start to finish. We are a family with two teenagers and even they stayed interested the whole day thanks to the stories about the fort and the seven Jain temples. The temples themselves were beautiful and calm. Our guide was patient, spoke excellent English and let us stop for photos constantly. Highly recommend for anyone wanting real depth, not just a quick look.
A wonderful walking tour and our guide was truly knowledgeable about every haveli. My only honest note is the heat, we went in August and by midday it was brutal walking around the fort. Start as early as you can and carry lots of water. That aside, Patwon Ki Haveli and Gadisar Lake were magical and the guide adjusted our breaks whenever we needed shade.
Fantastic value with a proper local guide rather than a rushed group tour. We spent real time inside the fort palace and he explained how the living fort actually works day to day. The walk between the havelis is short and easy. Gadisar Lake at the end was a lovely calm finish after a busy day. Couldn't fault the organisation at all.
January was the perfect time to do this, cool enough to enjoy walking all day. Our guide's knowledge of the Jain temples inside the fort was incredible and he clearly loves his city. He also helped us dodge the pushier shop sellers near the havelis without any fuss. The Nathmal Haveli puzzle detail was such a clever thing to point out. Wonderful experience.
Really enjoyable and informative day exploring the Golden Fort and havelis. The guide was excellent and the pickup was punctual. My only small gripe is that our stop at Gadisar Lake felt a little rushed at the end because we'd spent so long in the fort, though honestly the fort deserved it. Wear proper shoes, there are a lot of steps and uneven lanes. Great overall.
