Our guide brought the City Palace to life, walking us through each courtyard and the little mirror rooms without ever rushing. Being private meant we could linger where we wanted. The Lake Pichola boat ride at the end, with the Lake Palace glowing on the water, was the highlight of our whole Rajasthan trip. The AC car was a blessing in July.

A beautifully organised day. The driver picked us up right on time from our haveli and Vishnu, our guide, explained the history of Jagdish Temple with real passion. Saheliyon ki Bari was a peaceful surprise between the busier stops. Bottled water was a small but welcome touch. We felt looked after from start to finish.

We took the half-day version as we had a train to catch and it was perfectly paced. Covered Jagdish Temple and the City Palace with time for photos everywhere. Really good tour overall and our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The one thing to know is the City Palace gets seriously crowded by late morning, so parts felt a bit shuffly and slow. We wished we'd started earlier. Everything else, including the boat ride and drop-off, was smooth. Just go first thing and you'll avoid the crush.

January was the perfect time for this. Sunny, comfortable and the gardens at Saheliyon ki Bari looked wonderful. Our guide tailored the whole day to our interest in architecture and pointed out details we'd never have noticed alone. The private car meant no waiting around between sites. Lovely introduction to Udaipur and a charming, well-informed guide. Do be aware that in late May the midday heat is intense, so a couple of the outdoor stretches were tiring even with plenty of water. An earlier start would have helped. The City Palace interiors and the boat ride made up for it though. Beautiful city, good guide.
