Full description
Most Krabi boat trips are built around covering ground. This one is built around comfort. The boat carries no more than thirty guests, has proper seating and shade rather than bench rows, and spends the day working through a short list of stops instead of racing the fleet from beach to beach.
The afternoon is yours to use however you like. Snorkelling gear, kayaks and paddleboards all come aboard, and the crew will happily leave you drifting on a board for an hour if that is what you want. Between stops there is cold water, fruit and somewhere shaded to sit.
As the light drops the boat repositions for sunset and dinner is served on deck. Once it is properly dark, the crew find a sheltered spot for the last swim of the day, where bioluminescent plankton light up around you as you move through the water.

Hotel pickup
Transfer to the pier, welcome drink and briefing before boarding.
First snorkel stop
Anchor over reef for snorkelling, with kayaks and boards launched from the back of the boat.
Island beach stop
Time ashore on a quiet beach once the day-trip crowds have left.
Sunset and dinner
Dinner served on deck while the boat holds position for the sunset.
Plankton swim
Night swim in a sheltered bay to see bioluminescent plankton glow in the water.
Return to hotel
Back to the pier and road transfer to your accommodation.
Detailed Itinerary
Pickups run from about 13:00 and the boat leaves the pier once everyone is aboard and briefed. The first anchorage comes mid-afternoon, and the crew put kayaks and paddleboards in the water alongside the snorkelling gear so you can pick whatever appeals.
Around 16:00 there is a beach stop, timed for the point in the day when the morning tour boats have already gone. By early evening the boat repositions for the sunset and dinner is brought out on deck, eaten at anchor as the cliffs turn orange.
After dark the crew move to a sheltered bay for the plankton swim, the quietest part of the trip and for many guests the most memorable. The boat is back at the pier around 21:00, with transfers to hotels straight afterwards.

This is the slow version of a Krabi boat day and it is much better for it. Kayaks and paddleboards were on the back deck and you could take one out at any stop for as long as you liked. Dinner was served as the sun went down and then we swam with the plankton in the dark.
The plankton were faint on our night, more like sparks than a glow, and the crew were upfront that it depends on the moon. Even so, waving your arm underwater and seeing it light up is unforgettable. The boat was roomy with proper seating and a shaded upper deck.
Small group of around sixteen and the crew learned everyone's name. Snorkelling in the afternoon, then paddleboarding, then dinner at sunset, it was very well sequenced. Vegetarian dinner was arranged with no fuss when I asked at booking.
Eight hours but the last three are the good ones, the light on the limestone at sunset is extraordinary. Dinner was a proper Thai spread rather than the usual buffet rice. Warm freshwater shower on board before the trip home.
Really enjoyable and the crew were the best we had in Thailand. It was a bit choppy on the return leg in the dark which unsettled a couple of people. If you are prone to seasickness take something beforehand.
No queue for the paddleboards because they had enough for everyone. Water was warm well after dark for the plankton swim. Pickup from Ao Nang was easy and they dropped us right back at the hotel.
The plankton were strong on our trip, a proper blue-green shimmer with every kick. Crew had lights on the water the whole time so it felt safe. Best evening of our two weeks in Thailand.
Booked this instead of a second big island day and it was the right call. Fewer stops, more time in the water and dinner on board at golden hour. Snorkel gear, kayaks and towels all included.
