Neunzig Minuten Elefantenfütterung in einem Schutzgebiet, das per Boot vom Ao-Nam-Mao-Pier aus erreicht wird.
Der Transfer ist Teil dessen, was es ausmacht. Das Schutzgebiet liegt entfernt vom Ao-Nang-Streifen, und die Überfahrt ab Ao Nam Mao ist es, was es in der Ruhe hält statt an der Touristenstraße.
Sie bereiten das Futter zu und übergeben es selbst. Elefantenfutter hier sind Bananen, Zuckerrohr und von Hand gerollte Reis-Tamarinden-Kugeln, und ein erwachsener asiatischer Elefant vertilgt etwa 150 Kilogramm Pflanzenmaterial pro Tag, was Ihr Verständnis davon neu ordnet, was es bedeutet, einen zu halten. Die restliche Zeit verbringen Sie nahe den Tieren, während sie gewöhnliche Elefantendinge tun.
Kein Reiten, keine Ketten während des Programms, keine Vorführungen. Die Elefanten hier kommen aus der Holzfäller- und Trekkingarbeit, und die Pfleger, die sich täglich um sie kümmern, leiten die Session.
Neunzig Minuten sind eine angenehme Länge dafür. Sie bleiben trocken, Sie brauchen keinen Kleiderwechsel, und es funktioniert mit Kindern, die bei einem Halbtagesprogramm das Interesse verlieren würden.
Snacks, Saisonobst, Saft, Kaffee, Tee und Trinkwasser werden serviert, und das Elefantenfutter ist inklusive, sodass vor Ort nichts zu kaufen ist.

my guide had a thorough knowledge of the elephants and why the sanctuary exists. They say everydays a schoolday and it certainly was today having learned of some amazing facts about these wonderful animals.

we got picked up on time, staff were lovely we had our 16 month old baby with us and they kept her entertained so I could enjoy the experience. food was provided and refreshments which was good, great value for money. elephants were beautiful and seemed well cared for was great to make the food and feed them. definitely recommend.

It was great. They are punctual and the total time of the tour is good. The guide explains very well. They gave us snacks, drinks and fruits at the beginning and the end, plus mango sticky rice at the end. They take care very well of the elephants and the people. And last but not least, the elephants are amazing.
As soon as we arrived it felt calm. The elephants were well cared for with their care takers. All of the staff were so gentle and kind, they explained everything we needed to know about the elephants and how we could meet them, it was truly a one of a kind experience and a definite must! The elephants themself were gentle giants and very peaceful, thank you.
