Vier Stunden mit Elefanten, die nicht geritten werden, nach einem Programm, das um Pflege statt um Vorführung herum aufgebaut ist.

Das Wort ethisch wird in ganz Thailand locker verwendet, daher hier, was es bei diesem Besuch bedeutet: kein Reiten, keine Ketten während des Programms, keine Shows. Die Zeit wird damit verbracht, Futter vorzubereiten, eine grundlegende Gesundheitskontrolle durchzuführen, zu füttern, und allgemein Tiere zu beobachten, die gewöhnliche Elefantendinge tun statt Routinen.

Die Gesundheitskontrolle ist der Teil, der am meisten lehrt. Sie lernen, worauf man bei einem asiatischen Elefanten achten muss: der Zustand der Füße, die mehrere Tonnen tragen und wo die meisten gefangenen Elefanten Probleme bekommen; der Zustand der Haut hinter den Ohren; wie das Tier seinen Rüssel hält, wenn es entspannt ist. Amazing way to experience closeness to elephants in a respectful way. You can tell the elephants are free to do what they feel at the moment. You are free to choose whether to bathe with them or not. Finished the day with a big thai lunch. Definitely exceeded expectations

Das Erlebnis war super schön, unser Guide war top und das Mittagessen war sehr lecker, außerdem wurden wir mit leckeren Getrönken versorgt. Die Elefanten werden sehr gut behandelt und haben eine innige Verbindung zu ihren Menschen. Das kann man spüren. Das einzige, was uns nicht so gut gefallen hat war, dass man die Elefanten schrubben und mit ihnen baden durfte. Wir haben uns vorher viel informiert und sind uns nicht sicher, ob das so ethisch ist. Alles in allem aber top ☺️
