El día clásico de Krabi, realizado en barco longtail en lugar de lancha rápida, y programado alrededor de un banco de arena que solo existe durante parte del día.

Thale Waek, el Mar Separado, es una franja de arena que emerge con la marea baja y une las islas de Tup, Mor y del Pollo en una sola lengua transitable a pie. Con la marea alta, simplemente desaparece. Por eso esta excursión se programa según la tabla de mareas y no un horario de salida fijo, y por eso una fotografía de gente de pie en medio del mar es posible aquí.

La isla del Pollo debe su nombre a la formación rocosa en su punta, que parece una cabeza de pollo desde el ángulo correcto y nada en particular desde el incorrecto. El snorkel se practica sobre coral poco profundo justo frente a la playa. Phra Nang tiene el santuario en cueva, donde los pescadores dejan ofrendas talladas a un espíritu que creen que los protege en el mar, y es una de las mejores playas de Tailandia independientemente de eso. Tup y Poda son paradas de baño y descanso.

El longtail importa. Es más lento que una lancha rápida, es más ruidoso, y le lleva a aguas poco profundas de las que las lanchas rápidas tienen que anclar lejos. Ir con un capitán local también significa que la ruta se adapta al mar en lugar de seguir un horario fijo.

Itinerario detallado

Transfers begin around 08:30 and the longtail leaves the pier once the group has boarded. The first anchorage is beside Chicken Island, where the water is shallow enough that even hesitant swimmers can see fish without going far from the boat.

Late morning is timed for the tide at Thale Waek, when the sandbar between the islands emerges and you can walk from one to the next. The crew watch the tide tables closely, so the exact hour of this stop shifts through the month.

Lunch is served on Poda at about 12:15, followed by a long, easy stretch of beach time. Mid-afternoon the boat moves to Phra Nang for the cave shrine and a final swim before turning back towards the mainland at around 15:15.
