Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: From Mumbai to Agra via Delhi

Your adventure begins with an early morning flight from Mumbai’s bustling Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your local guide and transferred in a comfortable air-conditioned sedan for a scenic 3.5-hour drive to Agra via the Yamuna Expressway. Along the way, enjoy views of the lush countryside and small villages that dot the landscape, setting the tone for your journey into India’s rich heritage.

Once you arrive in Agra, check in to your luxury hotel where you can freshen up and savor a delicious lunch featuring authentic Mughlai cuisine, renowned for its aromatic spices and rich flavors. Later in the afternoon, head to Mehtab Bagh, a beautiful garden complex perfectly positioned on the opposite bank of the Yamuna River. This spot offers a breathtaking sunset view of the Taj Mahal, allowing you to witness the marble monument’s changing hues as daylight fades. The serene ambiance here is a photographer’s dream and a tranquil way to begin your exploration of Agra.

After a day filled with travel and awe-inspiring sights, return to your hotel for a sumptuous dinner and a restful overnight stay, preparing you for the iconic experiences ahead.

Day 2: Sunrise at the Taj Mahal and Journey to Jaipur

Rise early to experience the Taj Mahal at sunrise when the monument’s white marble glows softly in the morning light. Your expert guide will walk you through the history and architectural marvels of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, sharing fascinating stories of love and craftsmanship behind Shah Jahan’s masterpiece. The peaceful morning hours provide an intimate atmosphere to fully appreciate this symbol of eternal love.

Next, visit the imposing Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone fortress that served as the main residence of Mughal emperors before the Taj Mahal was built. Explore its grand palaces, audience halls, and mosques while learning about the Mughal dynasty’s political and cultural influence in India. For those interested, an optional quick stop can be made at Itmad-ud-Daulah, often called the Baby Taj, known for its exquisite marble inlay work and intricate design that inspired the Taj Mahal itself.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant or your hotel, sampling more regional specialties to fuel your afternoon journey. After lunch, embark on a roughly 4 to 5-hour drive to Jaipur, the vibrant Pink City. Along the way, watch the landscape transform as you approach Rajasthan’s desert state, with its distinct architecture and cultural flair.

Upon arrival in Jaipur, check into your luxury hotel. Relax and enjoy dinner as you prepare for a full day of sightseeing in this historic city.

Day 3: Discovering Jaipur’s Royal Heritage and Return to Mumbai

Your final day begins with a guided tour of Jaipur’s most iconic landmarks. Start at Amber Fort, perched on a hillside overlooking Maota Lake. Explore its sprawling courtyards, ornate palaces, and intricate frescoes that reflect Rajput architecture and royal grandeur. The fort’s blend of Hindu and Mughal styles offers a fascinating glimpse into Rajasthan’s regal past.

Next, visit the City Palace, a splendid complex that remains the residence of Jaipur’s royal family. Wander through its museums, courtyards, and gardens, where you’ll find a rich collection of royal costumes, armory, and artifacts. Then, admire the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, known for its honeycomb façade designed to allow royal women to observe street festivities without being seen.

Conclude your sightseeing with Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory built in the 18th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its large stone

Flying from Mumbai instead of taking the train was the best decision. We landed in Delhi, were whisked to Agra and stood in front of the Taj Mahal at sunrise the next morning with almost no one around. The marble turned pink as the sun came up. Our guide knew exactly where to stand for photos. Worth every rupee of the 950.

Did this with my wife for our anniversary. The 5-star hotels in both Agra and Jaipur were genuinely luxury, not just a label. Amber Fort was the surprise highlight for me, the scale of it is incredible. Private car meant we set the pace and never felt rushed between cities. Seamless from the Mumbai airport pickup onwards.

A fantastic three days and the sunrise Taj visit is unmissable. My only honest note is that the first day is a very early start and the drive from Delhi to Agra plus later to Jaipur adds up to a lot of car time. The AC vehicle was comfortable though, and the guide was excellent. Just come prepared for long days.

As someone with Indian roots living in the States, I was picky, and this exceeded expectations. Mehtab Bagh across the river from the Taj at golden hour is something most day-trippers miss. Breakfast at both hotels was excellent. The government-approved guides added real history at Jantar Mantar and the City Palace rather than just rattling off dates.

Everything was organised so we could simply enjoy. The flights from Mumbai, the transfers, the hotels, all handled. Hawa Mahal in the morning light was a dream to photograph. Our driver was patient and the guide in Jaipur spoke beautiful English. For a couple short on time but wanting the full Golden Triangle, this is ideal.

Three days felt like a proper trip, not a rushed dash. Agra Fort was far more impressive than I expected and the guide explained how it connects to the story of the Taj. Winter timing meant cool, clear skies for the sunrise. The private setup with just us in the car made a huge difference to how relaxed it all felt.

Genuinely wonderful and the guides were the standout. I'll be honest that by March the midday heat in Jaipur was already strong, so the Amber Fort climb was sweaty work, and there are touts near the monuments. But the sunrise start beats the worst of it, the hotels were plush, and flying beats a long overnight train.

Booked this for my parents and joined them. The private car and 5-star stays made it easy on my mum, who can't walk long distances, and the guide adjusted the pace for her. Seeing the Taj at sunrise together was emotional for all of us. Flying in and out of Mumbai saved us two full days versus driving. Highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions

The $950 price covers your round-trip flights between Mumbai and Delhi, all private transfers and an AC luxury car for Agra and Jaipur sightseeing, 2 nights in 5-star hotels (one in Agra, one in Jaipur), daily breakfast at the hotel, and a professional government-approved guide at every major attraction. It's an all-inclusive package designed so you don't have to arrange flights or hotels separately.
The single option, From Mumbai: 3-Day Luxury Taj Mahal & Pink City Jaipur Tour by Air ($950), includes guided sightseeing and your government-approved guide at each site. We recommend confirming monument entry fees at the time of booking, as ticket policies for the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Jaipur's palaces can change. Your guide will handle the queues and logistics at every stop so entry is smooth.
The 3-hour figure refers to the guided sightseeing block, but this is genuinely a 3-day, 2-night experience. Across those days you'll fly Mumbai to Delhi, transfer to Agra for the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Mehtab Bagh, then continue to Jaipur for the Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. If you want a shorter version instead, consider the Same Day Taj Mahal Tour From Mumbai with Flight.
After flying into Delhi and transferring to Agra by private car, you'll visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise — the quietest, coolest and most photogenic time of day, before the crowds and haze build. The soft dawn light on the white marble is unforgettable and gives you the best photos. Your guide will time the visit so you're at the gates early.
This is a private tour. You get a private AC car for all Agra and Jaipur sightseeing, private airport and hotel transfers, and a dedicated government-approved guide at each monument. Nothing is shared with strangers, so the pace flexes around your group. If you prefer an overnight version at a gentler pace, see the Overnight Taj Mahal Tour From Mumbai.
Because the itinerary flies Mumbai to Delhi and then drives to Agra for a sunrise Taj Mahal visit, expect an early start on the first day. We'll confirm your exact flight time and Mumbai airport pickup once your booking is finalized. Coming from Mumbai, an early departure is unavoidable, but it's what makes the sunrise at the Taj possible.
There's a fair amount of walking on uneven stone, plus ramps and steps at the Amber Fort in Jaipur and within Agra Fort. The monuments are spread out, so comfortable, closed walking shoes are essential. It's manageable for most reasonably fit travelers, but let us know in advance if anyone in your group has mobility concerns so the guide can plan accordingly.
Yes. Because it's private with a comfortable AC car and 5-star hotels, families with kids and older travelers often find it far easier than a self-organized trip. The main considerations are the early sunrise start and the walking across large monument complexes. Your guide can adjust the pace and arrange rest stops, making the Taj Mahal and Amber Fort accessible for most ages.
October to March is the most comfortable season, with cool, clear days ideal for sightseeing in Agra and Jaipur. April to June brings intense North Indian heat, often above 40°C, so an early sunrise start matters even more. The monsoon (July to September) is greener and quieter but can be humid. The sunrise Taj Mahal visit helps you beat both heat and crowds year-round.
Pack light, breathable, modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees for the monuments, plus comfortable closed walking shoes for uneven stone. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and a refillable water bottle, especially in the warmer months. Evenings in Jaipur can be cooler in winter, so a light layer is handy. Since it's a 2-night trip, pack a small overnight bag for the hotels.
Absolutely — this is one of the most photogenic circuits in India. Sunrise at the Taj Mahal and the view from Mehtab Bagh across the river are highlights, and Jaipur's Hawa Mahal and Amber Fort are stunning to shoot. Note that tripods and photography inside certain interiors may be restricted, and your guide will point out where cameras are and aren't allowed.
You'll stay 2 nights in 5-star luxury hotels, one in Agra and one in Jaipur, with daily breakfast included. Lunches and dinners aren't part of the package, which gives you freedom to try local Mughlai and Rajasthani cuisine. Vegetarian options are plentiful across both cities, and your guide can recommend trusted restaurants for any dietary needs.
After landing in Delhi you'll transfer by private car to Agra, then later drive on to Jaipur — these are the longer road stretches of the trip. The car is air-conditioned and comfortable, and the guide builds in stops. If you'd rather stay closer to Agra without the Jaipur leg, the Taj Mahal overnight tour from Mumbai by flight is a simpler alternative.
Yes. All transfers are private, so you're met at the airport and moved city-to-city with your own driver and vehicle — no navigating public transport or negotiating with touts. Your government-approved guide accompanies you at each site. Traveling with a vetted private operator is the safest and most relaxed way to see the Golden Triangle from Mumbai.
Because this package includes flights and 5-star hotel reservations, cancellation terms are tied to those bookings, so we recommend reviewing the specific policy shown at checkout before confirming. Once you book, we'll confirm your Mumbai flight times, pickup point and hotel details. If you're still comparing, the Same Day Taj Mahal Tour From Mumbai is a good lower-commitment option.
Yes, the Taj Mahal is closed every Friday for religious reasons. Please ensure your tour date for the Taj Mahal does not fall on a Friday.
Yes, foreign tourists must show their original passport or a high-quality digital photo at the entrance gates for security identification and monument entry.
Sunrise is the best time to visit the Taj Mahal. The gates open at 6:00 AM and the soft morning light creates the most stunning views. Arrive by 5:30 AM to beat the crowds and get the best photography conditions.
Amber Fort is located 11 km from Jaipur city center, about a 20-minute drive. When you book a guided tour through AsiaByLocals, round-trip transportation from your hotel is included. You can also take an elephant or jeep ride up to the fort entrance.
Modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is recommended for temple visits. Comfortable walking shoes are essential as forts like Amber Fort and Nahargarh Fort involve significant walking on stone pathways. Carry sunscreen and water, especially during summer months.
Yes, all three can be covered in a full-day guided tour. Our Jaipur city tours are designed to cover these major attractions efficiently with an experienced local guide who knows the best routes and timing to avoid crowds.
