The Standard Operational Window (2026)
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) manages the Taj Mahal's timings based on the solar cycle. While generally advertised as 'Sunrise to Sunset,' the operational hours are standardized for 2026 to assist with crowd control and security.
Official Daily Timings:
- Opening Time: 06:00 AM (Sharp)
- Closing Time: 06:30 PM (Varies by light)
- Last Entry: Gates typically close to new visitors exactly 30 minutes before the official closing time.
Important Note: These timings are strictly enforced. If you are standing in the mausoleum when the closing whistle blows, security will begin ushering all visitors toward the exits immediately.
To make the 06:00 AM opening worthwhile, have your Taj Mahal tickets booked online the night before — the ticket windows are the slowest part of early entry, and skip-the-line admission puts you inside while the sunrise crowd is still queuing.
