Full description
This is a 3.5-hour experience in Nara, built around Train, Kōfuku-ji and Kasuga-taisha. It is run by GuideMe Japan, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Kyoto was Japan's capital for over a thousand years until 1868 and has 17 UNESCO-listed sites among some 2,000 temples and shrines. The big three are Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, covered in gold leaf and best in morning light; Kiyomizu-dera, the wooden stage on the eastern hills with the Higashiyama lanes of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka below it; and Fushimi Inari's gates. Nijo Castle has the nightingale floors that squeak against intruders, and Ryoan-ji the rock garden. Temples open around 8:00 or 9:00 and close at 17:00, and the city bus is slow; a day with a driver or a guide who orders the stops against the crowds is the difference between four sights and seven.
The price covers guide, Transportation fee from Kyoto to Nara and Learn about the history of Nara from a local guide. It does not cover Todaiji Temple admission fee and Transportation back to Kyoto/Osaka Station, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
GuideMe Japan sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with GuideMe Japan before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
Hina was an approachable, engaging, friendly and knowledgeable guide! The tour was well paced, with the appropriate amount of information and stopped in the key locations in Nara. Definitely a highlight of our stay in the area! Hina was very kind to also give us some recommendations for the rest of our trip in Japan. Thanks for a great tour ☺️
Mike was very accommodating. They told us all about the history of the Nara buildings/temples and showed us where to get deer food to feed and pet the deers.
Our guide was informative, friendly and kind. She considered every member of the group. She had fun with us and the active children with our group. She continuously checked with us all to ensure comfort and that we could hear her information. She was truly lovely and felt like a friend. Thank you Ayame. I hope you're studies go well.
The tour was really fun, and it was really great to have Haruka as guide. it was a great experience
Tomo was delightful. We were 6 women traveling together. His English was excellent. He was knowledgeable and took time to answer everyone’s questions. He was attentive to our needs. It was a great tour.
Aki was an excellent guide. She was knowledgeable, interesting and friendly. We enjoyed every minute of the tour and learned so much from her!
Kazuma was great. Explained a lot. Helped us get back to Osaka. Wish him well with his studies!
Great tour, loved deers so much! Be careful though, don't feed large groups cause they can overwhelm you pretty quick :) groups up to 3 deers are fine
Ko is an excellent guide. despite his young age he is very knowlegable and well informed. he loves his country and transmits pation ! he did really take very good care of us and we enjoyed the tour with him !
Mei was an engaging and educational guide through Nara's Deer Park, Temples and Shrines. It was a magical tour!
it was well organized and Ryuya, our guide, was pleasant to everyone and gave us a good overview of the temples and some of the history of Nara. He also gave us some good advice about eating places and helped us find the right train and tickets back to our hotel. Would like to have had a place to sit and have a cold drink somewhere along the way because it was so hot out, but otherwise it was a good tour.
Haruka was an excellent guide very knowledgeable. As a native of Nara she was able to give excellent information on the tour and recommendations afterwards where to eat. She was very kind. My sixteen year old son said that our trip to Nara was the highlight of our trip to Japan so far. Highly recommend waking up early to beat the crowds and the heat.
