Batu Ferringhi: Convenient, Not Pristine
Batu Ferringhi is Penang's main beach strip, lined with resort hotels, a lively night market, and watersports operators — it's the convenient, resort-adjacent beach option, but honest expectations matter: the water quality here is noticeably murkier than Malaysia's east-coast islands (Perhentian, Redang) or Langkawi's clearer bays, owing to the busy shipping lane of the Strait of Malacca right offshore. Go for the resort atmosphere, the night market, and sunset, not for snorkelling-grade water clarity.
