Seeing the Taj Mahal at first light after only breakfast that morning in Bengaluru felt almost unreal. The flights were smooth, our guide met us the second we landed, and he knew exactly where to stand for photos before the crowds built up. Having the tickets already sorted meant we walked straight in. An incredibly full day, but worth every hour.
What sold me was doing this without losing two days to travel. The private car in Agra was cool and comfortable between the Taj and Agra Fort, and lunch was genuinely good north Indian food, not a tourist canteen. Our guide was government-licensed and full of Mughal history. Mehtab Bagh at the end gave us that postcard view across the river. Faultless organisation.
A beautiful and well-run day, but be honest with yourself about the early start. We were up before 4am for the flight and by the time we flew back we were exhausted. The heat in September was also intense at Agra Fort. That said, the guide was patient and the Taj at sunrise made it all worthwhile. Just don't expect a restful trip.
