Osaka Castle: Complete Visitor Guide

The keep is open daily 9:00-17:00 with last entry at 16:30, closed only December 28-January 1. Adult admission is ¥1,200, covering both the main keep and the Stone Wall Museum; children under 16 enter free with ID. During cherry blossom illuminations (roughly March 20-April 12), hours extend to 21:00.

The 106-hectare grounds surrounding the castle are free to enter and open 24 hours a day — you don't need a ticket to walk the moats, stone walls, and gardens, only to enter the keep's museum floors.

The keep, rebuilt in ferro-concrete in 1931 after the original was destroyed, houses a museum on the castle's history and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who built the original fortress in 1583. An observation deck near the top gives panoramic views over central Osaka.

Plan 1.5-2.5 hours for the keep and immediate grounds, longer if you're doing a full guided walking tour that also covers the surrounding shrine and park.
