Traveler Reviews
The whole experience was truly amazing. From pickup to drop off everything was organised very efficiently. Each component of the tour was thoroughly explained. Our Mon Guide Blythe was excellent and had a deep connection to the Culture and history of the Mon People. The overnight stay on the River Raft Hotel a lovely step out of our comfort zone. Our experience of “The Bridge over the River Kwai” was very informative and poignant, complete with a ride on the train over the wooden bridge. On the whole the tour was well compiled and we all enjoyed it.
The trip was fantastic. Visiting the cemetary and learning about the history of the railway was quite interesting, as well as exploring hellfire pass itself. Pat, our guide, was one of the loveliest people we've met. He was very well versed in the history and over the evening and next day showed how truly passionate he is for the mon culture. He's also an amazing dancer as he demonstrated during the evening mon dance! Exploring the mon village as a trio with Pat was an intimate and eye opening experience and really makes you appreciate the little things in life and how lucky we are to visit th
I found the meals transport guide accommodation excellent.. I found the overall tour very relaxing and enjoyable
We were well looked after initially by John and then the exceptional Pat with his brother Bert. Pat’s English is very good and although learning about Mon people and culture was the secondary reason for going, it became a fascinating subject. The River Kwai side was very moving and the plight of so many. The eye opener was the number of Tamils involved, plus Dutch and Americans. (I would have “enjoyed” more time in the cemetery to reflect.) We stayed on the no electricity jungle rafts. Despite early trepidation, this was very refreshing and the April night was cool. Worth doing just for the in
best thing about this tour is you were able see so many things along the way. jungke rafts was great abd highly recommend swimming in the kwai river
Cherry was a fantastic guide. Only 3 of us on our tour so she made us feel extra special sampling many local fruits and foods. She was very kind to the local people. I especially enjoyed the river boat ride as we just managed to miss all the crowds. The railway was definitely worth experiencing and seeing all the locals rush to secure their stalls as the train approached. Temples were excellent too. Bring plenty of drinking water as it can get hot. Driver excellent too. Thank you :)
We really enjoyed the trip! Knowledgable guides, great drivers, good food and the accomodation on the river rafts, quite amazing. As people with a family connection to the death railway it was also very moving at times.
Honestly the best tour I've ever been on. Pat stood out as an outstanding guide. He is passionate about his Mon culture and people.. The railway tour and museum is incredibly emotive. EVERYTHING is very well organised and just the right amount of time for each excursion to see what we needed to. The drivers are brilliant. As is the food at both the transfer points and the hotel. The accommodation is outstanding for the money a once in a life time experience not to be missed
The visits to the Death Railway Museum, CWGC Cemetery and Hellfire Cutting were my main objectives and well worth it. The Kwai Bridge was good too. The highlight was, however, the night stop at the River Raft Hotel and learning about the Mon culture. TBH, the train trip was the least interesting, as it was not possible to photograph the old timber trestles from the train. Meals throughout were good too.
Such an amazing opportunity to learn about the Mon tribe and their traditions. Every stop along the way was such an immersive experience. If you get the chance to add this excursion to your trip, I would definitely recommend it to first timers in Thailand.
Absolutely fantastic!!! Very well organised and we learnt so much… all the places we visited were very interesting in both culture and history. Excellent value for money. Highlight was staying at the floating hotel… great experience!!!
This is really a must-experience in Thailand. You get to know the essence of the country-I don’t want to reveal more :)- and you get to see so much more, in regard to the WW2 history. Staying at the jungle rafts with the Mon will be something that will stay for ever. The rafts are from paradise and getting to know the Mon people is a life time experience. The guides were great- just do it.
