This is a 8.5-hour experience in Bangkok. It is run by Venture Ashore LLC, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples sit side by side across Japan and the etiquette differs slightly: at a shrine, bow at the torii, rinse hands and mouth at the water basin, then bow twice, clap twice, bow once at the hall; at a temple, no clapping, hands together, and incense if it is offered. Photography is fine outside and usually not inside halls. Zen meditation sessions, zazen, are taught at several Kyoto and Tokyo temples in 30 to 60 minute sittings with the posture explained; a shukubo temple stay adds the morning service and vegetarian shojin ryori. Shoes come off at every hall.

Over the last few years we have seen a lot of Temples and Shrines, however the Grand Palace today took the biscuit. Its huge and it's immaculate condition and fine details are just gob smacking. We had to be covered up within the Palace and with my pull up trousers over my shorts, I was getting rather toasty. We had travelled up from Laem Chabang Port to Bangkok and as expected the traffic congestion was pretty bad. We had lunch in a wee Thai diner with locals that was quite a memory. It was organised by our guide, Tun who was very good. After lunch we visited the important temple Wat Pho that

Overall very god trip with mr A . Perhaps a bit less time in the royal palace would have been good to allow us to see the boats on the canal . Made good time for us to have a very good lunch
