Meet our Tour Guide at MRT Sanamchai Exit 1 at 12:30 pm. Start this afternoon by travel to Museum Siam reveals several exhibits displaying the national identity and history of Thai people and their relationships with neighboring cultures. This museum houses over 100,000 artifacts from Thailand's past. It also has an incredible garden that will be sure to delight both kids and adults alike! The concept of the museum is 'Play + Learn = Joyously', achieved through a series of interactive exhibits.
Next, hop on a traditional longtail boat to meander through the quaint canals taking in the quieter side of Bangkok life, which would not be complete without an exploration of the spectacular and iconic Wat Arun.
Take time to explore the iconic temple towering 79 metres over the Chao Phraya River offering panorama across Bangkok from the Thonburi side. It overlooks the Chao Phraya River and offers breathtaking views from its spires. The temple itself was built in 1782 by King Rama I as part of a larger project that included many other temples throughout Bangkok as well as several palaces. Finally, head back across the river and walk back to MRT Station.

Detailed Itinerary
Experience Bangkok from a unique perspective on this afternoon tour that combines fascinating history, iconic landmarks, and the city's legendary waterways. From interactive cultural exhibits to peaceful canal cruises and one of Thailand's most beautiful temples, this journey showcases the many sides of Bangkok while offering an unforgettable glimpse into its rich heritage.
Meet your guide at MRT Sanam Chai Station (Exit 1) at 12:30 PM before beginning your exploration of the city's historic district. Your first destination is Museum Siam, one of Bangkok's most innovative museums. Rather than presenting history through traditional displays alone, the museum brings Thailand's past to life with interactive exhibitions, multimedia presentations, and engaging activities designed to make learning both entertaining and memorable.
As you explore the galleries, discover how Thailand's national identity has evolved over centuries through its people, traditions, and relationships with neighboring cultures. The museum houses more than 100,000 historical artifacts that illustrate the country's remarkable cultural development. Outside, enjoy the beautifully landscaped gardens that provide a peaceful setting for visitors of all ages. Guided by the philosophy of "Play + Learn = Joyously," Museum Siam offers an enjoyable experience that appeals to both adults and children alike.
After your museum visit, continue to the nearby pier where you'll board a traditional longtail boat for a relaxing cruise through Bangkok's historic canals, or khlongs. Long before modern roads transformed the city, these waterways served as Bangkok's primary transportation network and earned the capital its nickname, the "Venice of the East."
As your boat glides through the narrow canals, experience a quieter side of Bangkok that many visitors never see. Pass traditional wooden houses built on stilts, peaceful neighborhood temples, lush tropical gardens, and local communities that continue to live alongside the waterways much as they have for generations. Along the route, your guide will share stories about canal life, local customs, and the important role these waterways have played in shaping Bangkok's history and daily life.
The journey then continues onto the majestic Chao Phraya River, where you'll enjoy spectacular views of Bangkok's skyline and several famous riverside landmarks. Cruising along Thailand's "River of Kings" offers fantastic opportunities to capture memorable photographs while appreciating the contrast between the city's historic architecture and its modern skyline.
Your final destination is the magnificent Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn. Standing gracefully on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, this iconic temple is one of Bangkok's most recognizable landmarks. Its towering central prang, rising approximately 79 meters above the river, is beautifully decorated with intricate porcelain mosaics and colorful ceramic tiles that sparkle in the sunlight.
Take time to explore the temple grounds while your guide explains its fascinating history and cultural significance. Originally developed during the reign of King Rama I in the late 18th century, Wat Arun has become one of Thailand's most treasured religious monuments. From its riverside location, enjoy breathtaking views across the Chao Phraya River toward Bangkok's historic district.
After visiting Wat Arun, cross the river by local ferry and enjoy a short walk back to MRT Sanam Chai Station, where your tour concludes. Combining history, culture, architecture, and traditional canal life, this afternoon experience offers the perfect introduction to Bangkok's timeless charm and many unforgettable highlights.
