Full description

This is a 4-hour experience in Phuket. It is run by A Chef's Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Japanese food tours work because the best places are small, unmarked and full of regulars, and a guide who orders for you opens them. An izakaya crawl covers yakitori, sashimi, karaage and the local pours of sake, shochu and highballs across three or four counters in an evening; a ramen walk explains the broths, tonkotsu, shoyu, miso and shio, and the regional styles. Most places seat eight to twelve and tours run six to eight guests for that reason. Vegetarians should say so when booking, because dashi stock is fish and hidden in almost everything; halal-certified options exist but are fewer.

The price covers 15+ food tastings, Guide and Bottled water and local soft drinks. It does not cover Alcoholic drinks and Hotel pickup and drop-off, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Ranong Main Market. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with A Chef's Tour before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Wonderful tastes of Phuket old town Juli 2026 Gigi guided me and my wife through the wonderful tastes of Phuket. She even organised all meals for us to be vegetarian/pescetarian. All stops on the tasing route felt so nice as she knew and introduced us to the restaurant owners and cooks. We tried so many nice dishes and got all Information about the ingredients history of the food, the restaurants and the old town of Phuket. We really enjoyed the time with Gigi showing us the Phuketarian cuisine and culture of cooking and eating. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

Had an amazing gastronomic journey with Gigi! She has so much knowledge and explained everything so nicely. I tried a wide array of foods that gave an insight into how various communities that live in Phuket have shaped the food habits. Particularly enjoyed the Roti Taewnam with Masaman Chicken Curry at Michelin Guide, the Rolled Rice Noodle and Crispy Belly at Kluy Jab PaMai, the PohPia Phuket Fresh Spring Roll and Kien Phuket Sausage at Lok Tian and Oh Aew Ai You Jelly at TianTian Dessert bar and Lapato Tea Leaf Salad at Mingalaba were both very unique experiences! Thank you A Chef’s Tour fo

we were fortunate to have Lucky as our guide. she was very knowledgeable about the history of the area, the food she was showing us and it was a very interesting tour. she spoke very good English and she made sure we were understanding everything she was saying and encouraged us to ask questions. The food was very tasty and even if you may find some things not to your taste, over the whole tour there is more than enough food to satisfy your hunger. Don't eat a lot of food beforehand. prior to the tour day they send an email asking about dietary requirements, I don't eat mushrooms and nothing I

The tour was great!! Nana, the guide was excellent. She explained all the food we were tasting, the origins, the ingredients!! It was so delicious. I got try so many new dishes and loved them all. But come prepared with a very enpty stomach, because everything is so tasty that you need to control yourself to not eat it all and save room for the next dish. I was already full by the time we got to the third restaurant, but still pushed to try everything. My definite favorites were the Kuay Jab and the roti place. The walk around the old town is also a plus. Loved it!

Dishes were well-curated in that they weren't well-known, already go-to dishes people always have when they come to Thailand/Phuket. I loved seeing how some of the dishes were prepped, and I learned some pretty neat fun facts. Our guide Gigi was SO amazing - accommodating, warm, friendly, knew her stuff. Such a delight to spend a few meals with her, rain or shine!

Two to four kilometres at a slow pace with plenty of stops; flat, but hot and humid, so bring water and light shoes. The stalls a guide takes you to are the ones with a queue and a fast turnover, which is the real food-safety test in Thailand. Say 'mai phet' if you want it not spicy.
We confirm your booking with the operator before we treat it as final, and we need at least one day's notice. Once it is confirmed you get the meeting point, the time and a contact number for the day. If the operator cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

The dry season from November to April offers the best weather for island-hopping tours and beach activities. December to March is peak season with calm seas, perfect for Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay boat trips. May to October (monsoon) is quieter and cheaper but some boat tours may be affected by rough seas. See our Phuket travel guide for detailed month-by-month advice.
Phuket is one of Southeast Asia's safest tourist destinations with excellent infrastructure, friendly locals, and a strong tourist police presence. Standard precautions apply: use reputable transport, stay aware in crowded areas, and book verified tours through trusted platforms. For water activities, all our tours include safety equipment and experienced crew.
The top experiences include: the Phi Phi Islands for snorkeling and Maya Bay, Phang Nga Bay for dramatic limestone cliffs and James Bond Island, the Big Buddha for panoramic views, Wat Chalong temple, and the charming Phuket Old Town for street food and Sino-Portuguese architecture. See our things to do guide for the complete list.
Yes! Direct flights between Phuket and Bangkok take just 1 hour 20 minutes. We recommend 3–4 days in Phuket for island tours, then 2–3 days in Bangkok for temples, markets, and street food. Our local guides operate in both cities for seamless trip planning.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering water sports before booking any speedboat tour or island-hopping excursion. While all our boats carry safety equipment and licensed crews, Thai hospital costs can be significant without coverage. Ensure your policy covers emergency medical evacuation and water activity accidents.
