Der Taj wurde so angelegt, dass man sich ihm vom Fluss her nähert. Zu Shah Jahans Zeit kamen Gäste mit dem Boot über die Yamuna, und die Flussfront, jene mit dem großen Sockel, der sich aus dem Ufer erhebt, war der vorgesehene erste Anblick. Der Zugang von der Straße und das Große Tor gewannen erst später an Bedeutung.
Diese Tour bringt Sie zurück aufs Wasser. Ein kleines Boot fährt den Abschnitt hinter dem Bauwerk entlang und zeigt Ihnen den Bau aus dem Blickwinkel, für den er errichtet wurde, dazu eine Reihe von Fotos, die fast kein anderer Besucher mitbringt.
