La mayoría de los visitantes llega, ve un edificio y se va. La ciudad que hay detrás ha sido capital mogol, plaza fuerte maratha y guarnición británica, y come en consecuencia: una base mogol con una fuerte influencia braj, es decir, más rica y más dulce que Delhi.

Qué comes

Bedai y jalebi, el desayuno local: un puri frito relleno de lentejas con patata especiada, y al lado una espiral de jalebi caliente empapada en almíbar. Esto es lo que Agra come de verdad por la mañana.

Petha, el dulce translúcido de calabaza de cera por el que la ciudad es genuinamente famosa. Hay docenas de variedades, natural, angoori, con paan, con azafrán, y las buenas tiendas llevan generaciones haciéndolo.
