Entradas y un guía, nada más

Una reserva corta y barata que resuelve las dos partes molestas de visitar el Taj: la taquilla, y plantarse delante de la tumba más famosa del mundo sin saber qué se está mirando.

El anuncio lleva tanto la tarifa india como la de extranjeros, y conviene saberlo: los indios pagan una fracción del precio extranjero, y los residentes o titulares de OCI deberían reservar la opción correcta en lugar de pagar de más.

Lo que incluye

La entrada a su tarifa, y un guía local autorizado que le recibe en la puerta. Coche y conductor en la opción más completa.

Lo que nadie puede saltarse

La seguridad. A todos se les pasa el control y la lista de prohibidos se aplica sin discusión: sin trípodes, sin drones, sin comida, sin bolsas grandes, sin mecheros. Los teléfonos y las cámaras pequeñas no son problema. Hay taquillas en la entrada.

Dentro

Por el Darwaza-i-Rauza, la gran puerta de arenisca roja, donde el Taj aparece en el arco y, por diseño deliberado, parece encogerse a medida que uno camina hacia él.

Luego el charbagh, el jardín de cuatro partes dividido por canales de agua, con la tumba reflejándose en todo el largo del estanque central.

En el zócalo: la caligrafía del arco principal, labrada en tamaños crecientes para que se lea a una altura uniforme desde el suelo; las incrustaciones de pietra dura en cornalina, jaspe, lapislázuli y jade, a veces sesenta piezas en una sola flor; y los cuatro alminares, inclinados muy ligeramente hacia fuera para que un terremoto los alejara de la tumba.

Dentro de la cámara, la celosía labrada y los dos cenotafios, pues las tumbas reales están selladas en la cripta de abajo, y la única asimetría de toda la composición: la tumba de Shah Jahan, colocada fuera del centro por su hijo.

Taj Mahal bezoek met Faizan was prima geregeld. Het was aan het onweren en onze gids stelde voor om het een beetje uit te stellen voor een minder natte ervaring.
