Por qué importa la licencia en Agra
En cada puerta de esta ciudad hay hombres que se ofrecen a guiarle. La mayoría no tienen licencia, algunos son muy buenos, y no pocos le contarán que el emperador mandó cortar las manos de sus artesanos, una historia sin base en ninguna crónica mogol, que aparece por primera vez en el siglo diecinueve.
Un guía autorizado por el gobierno ha pasado el examen del Ministerio de Turismo sobre historia, arquitectura y normativa, lleva una licencia con foto, y puede denunciarse si le induce a error. Ese es todo el valor de esta reserva.
Idiomas extranjeros
Esa es la otra razón para reservar en lugar de contratar en la puerta. Los guías con licencia están certificados en idiomas concretos, francés, español, alemán, italiano, japonés, ruso y otros están todos disponibles en Agra, mientras que en la puerta solo encontrará inglés e hindi.
El recorrido
Se encuentra con su guía a la hora y en el lugar que elija.
Primero el Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan lo empezó en 1632, el año siguiente a la muerte de Mumtaz Mahal. Veintidós años, veinte mil obreros, mármol acarreado 400 km desde Makrana, en Rajastán.
La caligrafía labrada en letras cada vez más grandes para que se lea a una altura uniforme desde el suelo, siendo el calígrafo Amanat Khan el único artesano que firmó su trabajo en alguna parte del edificio. Las incrustaciones de pietra dura, hasta sesenta piedras en una flor. Los cuatro alminares, inclinados hacia fuera para que un terremoto los dejara caer lejos de la tumba. Y la única ruptura de la simetría: el cenotafio de Shah Jahan, añadido fuera de eje por Aurangzeb.
Después el Fuerte de Agra, y el Musamman Burj, donde ocurrió ese cautiverio, con el Taj a la vista río abajo.

Smooth communication on WhatsApp before my arrival. Riyaz was even tracking my train arrival. The historical part was well covered and very informative. He also helped when other people approached me to offer things. He help storage my computer (and book, weird, but one cannot enter with books) during my visit at Taj Mahal. My visit to the Taj was amazing. My guide Wahid was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He met me at my accommodation and walked over to the Taj and walked me back. As a solo female traveller this was great. He took amazing photos for me also which was a bonus. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Had a great time. The arrangements were spot on. Our guide Shahnawaz was excellent. His way of explaining things made interesting even for the kids. Explained things patiently and overall ensured we made good time and that we did not miss our train. He even took photos for us and showed great spots for taking photos!
